I did some table cloth math. Mixed abs is worth about .25 right now so 10 tons = 20k lbs and is worth $5k. They claim 2400 ga worth of oil from this and that makes 57 barrels of crude now worth about $96 each which translates to about $5500 which as soon as you include any overhead at all will make this process worthless.

There's no way I'd doubt your math.

OK so in the real world this will not work because he said 1kg plastic = 1 liter oil. Converting that again on the napkin into us standards means you put in $2.08 usd of plastic to get $2.28 gallon of oil before refining not accounting for any labor, capital and transportation.

The cool thing here is that he has a desktop unit which could be sold to families to use at home.

It looks like the process works on the same model as an air conditioning system.

I am certainly not trying to be hard, but if you can sell plastic for .25 or more then why would anyone bother to lose money refining it?

The reality is that it gets sent to Asia and is ground and sorted for color and put back into gaylords as new feed stock for manufacturing lines.
