Re: Antioxidants
Quinoa Sprouts

Quinoa (Keen-wah) is an ancient pseudograin which originated in the Andes region of South America, where our seed comes from even today. Quinoa has been cultivated for 6000 years. It was a staple of the Inca diet, and they considered it . Quinoa is the only sprout which contains every single amino-acid. It is another one of the quickest sprouts, prefering to soak for only 30 minutes and showing 2 roots per seed - usually within 24 hours. It is very beautiful as well as delicious. Like its relative, Amaranth, it has a mild beet-like (they too are related) flavor, though it's also nutty.

Re: Antioxidants
We take a liquid vitamin/mineral/antioxidant called Vibe by Eniva. We have taken it for 7 years. I credit it with saving my life and the lives of others in my family. You feel it immediately after you take it! We did! We've even heard of people who have sprayed it on their skin and improved their health. Eniva now has Vibe Fusion which has organic chocolate in it and a chocolate cherry taste.

I remember the first or second (can't remember) time I took an ounce of Vibe that I had this feeling of walking on air. Hard to explain. But we've never been without it since.

Vibe is made by a doctor, whose expertise is in nutrient delivery systems and cancer research.

We don't say any of this lightly as we've been researching, improving our health and the health of those we love for the last 10 years based on what we've learned. If we did not believe in this product and seen benefits from it we would still be taking it.

We are so passionate about it and about health in general that we created our own website and youtube channel and are known on the internet as the 2healthnuts!

Re: Antioxidants
Protein, iron, magnesium, zinc, saturated fat

Vegetarian foods to boost testosterone

1) Beans: Protein, fiber, zinc

Beans pack a bigger shot of zinc than any other member of the veggie family; some (like baked beans) even rival the zinc content of red meat. Add that to a food that’s high in protein and fiber and low in fat.
How much:
Baked beans, lima beans, navy beans and kidney beans are all good choices. Canned versions are as nutritious as dry!

2) Eggs: Protein and cholesterol

Testosterone is synthesized from cholesterol, and as such, food containing cholesterol is a good source of building blocks for testosterone. Eggs are a source of pure, unadulterated cholesterol, and one recent study showed that the excess cholesterol in eggs isn’t as harmful as previously thought.

How much:
Start your day with 3-4 whole eggs cooked in olive oil or fat-free cooking spray. The amount of eggs you eat also depends on your goals, body weight etc.

3) fermented milk,

The Facts:
Fermented milk has more protein than a serving of lean beef or chicken. Have it as a snack or with a meal for testosterone-boosting potential.

How much:
Eat 1 cup each day

3) Broccoli:

Elevated estrogen levels lead to fat accumulation and can interfere with muscle growth. In a clinical study, indole-3-carbinol cut the largely female hormone estradiol in half for men. Broccoli contains high levels of indoles, food compounds that help reduce bad estrogen.

How much:
Eat as many servings of broccoli as you can stomach.

4) Cabbage: Indole-3-carbinol, fiber

The Facts:
In addition to exhibiting the same estradiol-restricting properties as other cruciferous vegetables, cabbage is high in fiber. Fiber is great for controlling weight, as it prevents the consumption of fattier foods. Keeping weight down has an anti-estrogen impact.

How much:
Load up that fat-free brat with sauerkraut and have a side of slaw just go easy on the mayo.

5) Brussels Sprouts: Indole-3-carbinol, fiber

The Facts:
You should have listened to your mom: Brussels sprouts do help you grow up big and strong. Like the other vegetables on our list, these specifically target bad estrogen and pack just as much fiber.

How much:
Hold your nose and power them down. Good luck!

6) Garlic: Allicin

The Facts:
In clinical studies, garlic’s active ingredient enhances testosterone levels and inhibits cortisol, a hormone that competes with testosterone, limiting its actions and breaking down muscle tissue.

How much:
Season other foods with garlic when you can, but eating whole cloves provides the most direct benefit.

The Basics On How To Eat For A Huge Testosterone Boost

Stick to the ratio: Men should aim for 45% of calories from protein, 35% from carbs and 20% from fats. As you put daily menus together, these numbers will help you maintain this diet.
Make these foods the building blocks of your diet! I am a woman and I eat vegan.

Re: Antioxidants
Vegan Foods with Arginine

Arginine, or L-arginine, is an amino acid from which your body produces nitric oxide. Arginine is therefore considered a "building block" of nitric oxide. Arginine-rich foods in particular. Arginine is also found in spinach, legumes, soybeans, almonds, oats, walnuts, sesame seeds, While arginine is a precursor to nitric oxide, arginine consumption does not necessarily result in a direct increase in nitric oxide synthesis, as it may undergo some degradation in the body before it is converted.

Foods With Citrulline

Nitric oxide building block arginine can also be manufactured in the body from another amino acid, citrulline. A food that is "unusually high" in citrulline, according to a Science Daily website report, is watermelon. The citrulline in watermelon has also proved to be readily available for conversion to arginine in the body.

Re: Antioxidants
Dr. Fuhrman and Dr. Barnard, two physicians that have written articles about calcium absorption in foods, both share the following information.
This Article

Improved My Health 1
Changed My Life
Saved My Life

Calcium absorption from milk is about 32 percent whereas some green, leafy vegetables have a calcium absorption rate of over 50 percent. Here are a few examples of the calcium absorption for vegetables:

Broccoli - 53 percent
Brussels sprouts - 64 percent
Mustard greens - 64 percent
Turnip greens - 52 percent
Kale - 40 to 59 percent

So while milk and dairy products have high amounts of calcium, only one-third of it is being absorbed. The green, leafy vegetables with higher absorption come very close to delivering similar amounts to the body as milk.

Re: Antioxidants
Main Outcome Measures Incidence of Alzheimer disease, based on Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Revised Third Edition (DSM-III-R) criteria and National Institute of Neurological and Communicative Disorders and Stroke and Alzheimer Disease and Related Disorders Association (NINCDS-ADRDA) criteria, associated with dietary intake of beta carotene, flavonoids, vitamin C, and vitamin E.

Results After a mean follow-up of 6 years, 197 participants developed dementia, of whom 146 had Alzheimer disease. When adjustments were made for age, sex, baseline Mini-Mental State Examination score, alcohol intake, education, smoking habits, pack-years of smoking, body mass index, total energy intake, presence of carotid plaques, and use of antioxidative supplements, high intake of vitamin C and vitamin E was associated with lower risk of Alzheimer disease (rate ratios [RRs] per 1-SD increase in intake were 0.82 [95% confidence interval {CI}, 0.68-0.99] and 0.82 [95% CI, 0.66-1.00], respectively). Among current smokers, this relationship was most pronounced (RRs, 0.65 [95% CI, 0.37-1.14] and 0.58 [95% CI, 0.30-1.12], respectively) and also was present for intake of beta carotene (RR, 0.49 [95% CI, 0.27-0.92]) and flavonoids (RR, 0.54 [95% CI, 0.31-0.96]). The associations did not vary by education or apolipoprotein E genotype.

Conclusion High dietary intake of vitamin C and vitamin E may lower the risk of Alzheimer disease.

When I tried Alpha Lipoic Acid (capsule form) it actually caused me to totally lose my sense of taste for a while.
Food tasted like cardboard, and I had no idea what was causing it.

Scared the heck out of me, til I sleuthed it on the net and found a handful of others that had this happen from ALA. Taste came back in a few days after stopping this supplement. Very weird experience!

An alteration in taste or smell may be a secondary process in various disease states, or it may be the primary symptom. The distortion in the sense of taste is the only symptom, and diagnosis is usually complicated since the sense of taste is tied together with other sensory systems. Common causes of dysgeusia include chemotherapy, asthma treatment with albuterol, and zinc deficiency. Different drugs could also be responsible for altering taste and resulting in dysgeusia. Due to the variety of causes of dysgeusia, there are many possible treatments that are effective in alleviating or terminating the symptoms of dysgeusia. These include artificial saliva, pilocarpine, zinc supplementation, alterations in drug therapy, and alpha lipoic acid.

I would want to know why. Lack of Zinc is usually the reason for loosing taste....

If you're looking to make a buck with your bod, your best bet would be to sell individual organs, but since that's illegal, an alternative might be to tan your hide for use as leather. Your skin would be worth about $3.50 if it were sold at the price of a cowhide, which runs around $0.25 per square foot. So, if you take a dollar's worth of elements plus the value of your skin, you might be able to get $4.50, which we'll round up to $5, so you'll feel better about your chemical value.

Ya'll and me are not worth much on the market, so I guess we can get over ourselves....LOL

April 22ndis the birthday of Rita Levi-Montalcini. She was awarded half the 1986 Nobel Prize in Medicine for the discovery of nerve growth factors. Upon graduation in 1936 with a medical degree, she was denied an academic or professional position in her native Italy under Mussolini's anti-Jewish laws. Instead, she set up a home laboratory in her bedroom and began researching nerve growth in chicken embryos. The paper she wrote on chick embryos earned her an invitation to a research position at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1947 where she stayed for the next 30 years. The Italian government recognized her by making her a member of the Italian Senate for life in 2001. She was a respected and active member of the Senate until her death in 2012 at the age of 103.

But since dates are not consumed at anywhere near the level of coffee, the blue ribbon goes to our favorite morning pick-me-up as the number one source of antioxidants, he says.

Thread: Foods good for the body

He says
As I note in my 2-min. video Paleolithic Lessons, we were exposed to such a quantity of whole healthy plant foods that we, as a species, lost our ability to make vitamin C. We still actually have the vitamin C gene in our DNA, but our bodies presumably just junked it because we were getting such massive daily doses that it wasn’t worth maintaining it. The problems occur when you take our evolutionary heritage, fine-tuned over the millennia, and plop it down into meat and potato chip country.

I don't agree, I believe the vitamin C gene was turned off in our DNA so we would live a shorter life span....Why? we are a slave race, If we live longer we would mature and become masters of ourselves and our planet and eventually the universe.
Yahoshua the Nazoraion sets us free from this slave like existence.

John 15:15 "No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.
When you are born or begotten from above you are given the Holy Spirit, and She will lead you to all Truth, and the Truth will set you free. No more slave like mentality.
