YOUR GENERATION - The 3 Quintessential Albums - WHAT ARE THEY?
STATE YOUR:

1. Year of Birth

2. The Three Music Albums that YOU Think Represent Your Generation

And if anyone posts a Li'l Kim album, all I have to say is
norikey
(just kidding--I like Li'l Kim & the Junior Mafia)

But, SERIOUSLY--rock out with ye olde cocks out!!!!

If you can, embed a YouTube link to the the albums!

AND REMEMBER--we're talking about ALBUMS (LPs or EPs) that you are PROUD to have REPRESENT YOUR GENERATION.

*********

As for ME...

DOB: 7/17/1979

2. Razorblade Suitcase by Bush
3. The Infamous by Mobb Deep

Could someone please embed these for me? I can't embed from my mobile.

Here are my three (please embed for me):

[link to m.youtube.com] SIAMESE DREAM by The Smashing Pumpkins

[link to m.youtube.com] RAZORBLADE SUITCASE by Bush

Re: YOUR GENERATION - The 3 Quintessential Albums - WHAT ARE THEY?
Represent our generation at which stage of life? Or every stage of life?

Does the infamous by Mobb Deep represent your generation for every stage of life? Or just the time period when it came out?

Do you mean when we were coming of age? Teens... twenties... children? Because the music that represented my generational youth is a lot different than the music that represents my generational adulthood.

I know but I had to stop somewhere! One would be a joke. Two, a farce. Three...well, it'll have to do.

Five is too many and four is...you know...FOUR. The weirdest number. I can't do four.

Poor four.

I love all three of those albums. I can tell you thought about those choices. There's a common thread there.

No doubt. Meddle, Dark Side, Wish and Animals are my standard tripping soundtracks. But I'm doing something different tonight.

I'm tripping to MY GENERATION'S MUSIC!!!

I swear! Thank God for Smashing Pumpkins!

(those might be my last words one day--and I'll be proud of 'em!)

Re: YOUR GENERATION - The 3 Quintessential Albums - WHAT ARE THEY?
Speaking of generations...has anyone else noticed or agree that it seems pop-culture really hasn't changed much from the mid-to-late 90's?

What I mean is the 80's, 70's, 60's etc, all have a clear identity that you can easily notice.

Even in the 90's we could look back on the 80's and see it for being much different. The movies were a lot different, clothing a lot different, hair styles, etc..

But, at some point in the 90's ---around 96ish or so we haven't really seemed to advance too much beyond that. Many movies released in 96 and beyond, for example, don't look or feel aged.

Clothing manufactured then, isn't really that out of style in comparison to clothing nowadays.

Could be just me..but, I've always waited for the moment to be able to say, yeah the 90's are now 'old' or unique in comparison to today....and for whatever reason...i still don't see current culture as an identity much beyond it..
