Blizzard Warning, Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas...UPDATE: National Guard Called In To The Texas Panhandle

Of course you'll barely hear about this on the National News...until the storm makes it to the East Coast...

Then they will freak the fuck out, declare a state of Emergency, go to Defcon 1, send out the bombers, prep the nukes, and open the FEMA camps...

Anyway, a warning for all travelers...

But don't worry about the people who live out here...we don't need the government to tell us what to do when we get a little snow in winter...

In fact after 5 to 8 years of drought in this area, we're just glad to get any moisture we can going into the Spring...

What part of Texas are you in?

Hey, Saddletramp. Take a look at this! Click on the top where it says,"URGENT". It'll take you to a slide/video presentation of the storm. Really nice! I think this is the first time they've done this.

Looks like you are in for it today. Stay safe up there, AND, don't forget your bread and milk!LOL I've got mine, but I have to hit the store for a couple of things myself. We have a little more time to get ready than you do.

I've never been through Amarillo when there wasn't a damn blizzard goin on...

whoa!! it just interuppted the laker game to say we are in blizzard warning til tomorrow night. im in west texas.

If it's not a blizzard, it's tornadoes, dust, hail, t-storms, high heat, or a giant accident on the I-27/I-40 interchange! The worst spot up there that I've been in is just east of Amarillo. The weather across that section of I-40 always gets hit with something.

The hazardous weather outlook from Norman, OK. It covers ALL of Oklahoma and the western North Texas region. It's not good guys. I don't wish severe weather on anyone, but we NEED the moisture.

It's coming, folks. Looks like Monday night into Tuesday morning will be the worst of it here.

If you have any urgent needs to take care of, get it done TODAY.

Might be a good idea to prepare to be off work/school/ other obligations for Tuesday, perhaps Wednesday as well.

Agreed with our Texan neighbors, we need the moisture -- and this will be the kind that soaks in and stays -- but this is one helluva way to get it.

I just green pinned this so we'll have an official TX/OK Blizzard thread -- all warmed up and cozy.

It's not just the snow, either. There will be severe t-storms around the areas getting the snow. Even a possiblity of rain/snow mix as far south as San Angelo.

This is a whopper of a storm and late in the season for us. It's been in the 60's and 70's for awhile, in the Lubbock area. I think a lot of people here will be caught off guard.

It's only important if it makes Goldman Sachs and NBC staff uncomfortable.

In Colorado we call 8 inches a good dusting.

We had thundersnow last week in central OK, and I expect more of it when the front first comes in.

We're at 63 degrees here now, near Tinker AFB, and people are out in shorts and teeshirts. Perfect clear bright sky, gorgeous day, and ZERO sign of impending disaster.

That's what I'm afraid of. My son is in Norman, at school. He's got young, dumb, stupid, mom doesn't know anything disease!LOL I txt'd him yesterday, but he won't listen. At least, he lives in the dorm!

Here's the radar for the region. Everything is still in New Mexico and Colorado. Clovis is supposed to start getting snow around 6 pm today. This radar WILL update.

OkC -- about 15 miles N of Norman -- expected to recieve 4"-8" of snow.

Not some postcard fluffy snow, but hard-driven snow that will drift high enough to shut down east-west roads. Not to mention creating white-out conditions and frostbite.

It's not the depth of the snow... it's the wind that makes this such a dangerous storm.

I know. Add to the wind whipping around all the tall buildings on campus...it'll be a little like Chicago. He's really not a dumb kid, he just doesn't think his parents know much!LOL He'll learn. At least, I don't have to worry about him driving in it, he doesn't have a car up there.
