RIght!? Starving people and we throw food away, for fuck sakes! I suppose if it would have been horse meat loaded with pink slime, it would have had immeadiate approval.

If, on the other hand, you want to eat GMO laden foods that will make you fat and sick, the government is more than happy to let you do that.

Furthermore, they won't require the sellers to label the poisonous food so that you know it has GMO's in it.

good, maybe these people will now have the motivation to get a job and afford some decent cuts of meat. La. may have screwed up the levees, but they got this one right.

I would rather have deer than cow or any other red meat.

They should have known better. there are rules Shelters have to follow. Food that is not inspected by the FDA is not allowed, just like any restaurant.
It is to keep disease tainted food from being served to the public.

It's chock full of GMO's that make people fat and sick. The explosion in obesity in the US in the last 15 years matches up with the introduction of GMO's into the food chain.

The livestock is sick due to this garbage. Your produce has been compromised by it and the toxic pesticides on them.

sad-- I used to give food to the shelters anonymously, I got caught by some of the residents one time--2 of the guys cried because I had left a full bag of oranges and a 30lb turkey, yams, potato's and fresh green beans.
I was probably as poor then as I am now--and I need to get back to serving the people instead of worrying about getting by...I never worried then and I got by..
I also gave a ton of various types of squash that grew in my garden to the guys at the half way house-even told them how to cook some of the different ones..
Last year a 12 point buck killed my Jeep- he was incredibly delicious!!! We took it to the local meat locker and told them what we wanted with the meat--I told the guys if there was anything left that was usable to donate it..I gave away over half of what we had to people we knew who were struggling.. and I still have about 8lbs of ground meat.-- around here there are a lot of vehicle killing bucks!

In many states fresh roadkill deer is sent to homeless shelters....Ironically venison destroyed was probably the healthiest food in that LA shelter....

Meat donated by Hunters against Hunger is normally processed by licensed local meat processing facilities, and if this meat was processed by any of the local meat processors then it was either a state or federally inspected facility...

AND the FDA doesn't inspect meat that comes out of any meat processing facilities, the USDA or State Agricultural Agencies do moron...
