To the OP. isn't it more likely that during meditation you are just connecting to the anxiety that was already there? Sounds like it to me....and rather than face it, or take ownership of it you are pushing it away so you won't ever have to deal with it. I will tell you this, that unconscious fear will control you behind the scenes without you knowing unless you bring it out into the light.
