The thing about shielding with metal is it needs to be grounded well or else the signals can be concentrated into a small spot in the brain. It acts like a focusing dish.

If you guys are serious about shielding, get the RF shielding paint and paint an EMP safe room. Paint under the carpet, paint the ceiling and walls, doors, trim. Get shielding glass or curtains. Then ground it well into the ground (several feet with 00 copper cable).

That will be the EMP safe room. Anything inside will be safe as long as the door and window are closed (screens can be used to vent safely)

Too bad you need communications, targeting systems, and various other components to launch a nuke.

One room is all I need. What impact would an EMP have physically on a person if any? I know a nuke would be bad news but what about the energy?

HAARP: bounce a high intensity ULF radio pulse to deform/weaken the ionosphere over a strategic area. Make this coincide with the arrival of a CME, creating a path to ground over target = Super EMP weapon.

I read something along those line too. I am more confused now than ever. I suppose no on e knows for certain what would happen because it has never taken place.

All newer cars would be affected too since they are computer controlled, even some older carbureted cars would be affected as a lot of them have ignition modules controlling the spark. and old diesel is your best bet.

The author of One Second After is a good friend of my dad and is a local history professor.
The book itself is scary enough. But when all the locations used in the book are in your backyard it takes it to a whole other level. I can visualize all of it so vividly. Absolutely worth a read.
Oh yeah don't forget the video game "Homefront". It always pops into mind when i hear of problems with North Korea or EMP's.
