Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33825975 Protect themselves against who? what? I hate to tell you this, but the British aren't coming anymore and neither are the Indians. I live in the country with the most people in prison. Crime all around. Redcoats and red people. FFS. You can't be for real. When seconds count, law enforcement is minutes away, if they even come at all. You seem hopeless but I hope that clears that up for you, if not die by horse spelunking for all I care. |

I was unaware that the fed gov used 22 in anyway? So, is the gov buying 22 to keep it off the shelves, or are people purely panic buying, thus inflating the price? |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 36256426 United States 03/19/2013 01:58 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | rumor has it, obongo put a halt on all foreign ammo importation, slipped in with some bill. So no more cheap 7.62 its simple really, buy up all the ammo for the departments, create mass fear buying for the rest of us. Then make the manufacture of ammo illegal. on another note, i was at walmart and to my surprise they had a 250 round UMC bulk pack of .40S&W. picked it up first i seen ammo there in a good while |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 36256426 United States 03/19/2013 02:01 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Without getting into too much detail, let's just say my work allows me to visit a lot of gun shops and sporting goods stores. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14016885 No one, and I repeat, no one has .223 or 22 LR, and on the rare occasions suppliers get some, it is gone immediately. 9mm is nearly impossible to find, and recently even .357 and 40 caliber has disappeared (both were available as recently as a month ago). The following calibers ARE readily available, and I am thinking of buying into these calibers myself: - Pretty much all shotgun shells are readily available everywhere - .17, .22 magnum, .250, .243, 44 mag, .45 - Sometimes I will find .38 special, 30-30, and oddball calibers like 7mm mauser or .303 british. - Interestingly, 5.45 x 39 (AK 74) is readily in bulk as surplus, as is 7.62 x 54 (Mossin Nagant). So if you don't own guns and want to stock up while you can still buy, I would buy a .17 cal, 12 gauge shot gun, .243 deer rifle, AK 74 assualt rifle, Mossin Nagant bolt action rifle, a 44 magnum revolver, or a 1911 .45. You can still buy at gun shows. New .223 ammo goes for .80-1.00 per round. Reloads run .50-.70 round. .22 long rifle will run you at least .10 a round, as high as .40 per round. You can find it online, but you need to check www.gunbot.com constantly to find a decent deal, otherwise you will get burned bad. Hope this helps someone... in my experience, even 12 gauge is dried up in vegas sometimes i run into some birdshot, and will buy whatever is there. Buckshot is becoming extremely hard to find plenty of 16/20 gauge and .410 though |

That's water under a bridge. I'm well stocked. I'm also concerned for those who have recently woken up to this systematic infringement on our rights. To their detriment, many have simply ignored the value of their rights, the 2nd Amendment notwithstanding. But they're waking up, to their credit. These are the people you want to help. Self-serving critics need to climb back in their holes, because they are likely of little value to the cause in a strategic sense. If you have a friend or neighbor reaching out, let's bring them up to speed before we lose them to a sense of desperation and the grinder they'll be assimilated by. |

Went on Cheaper Than Dirt, all but 1 overpriced brand of 9mm out of stock. Went to Bass Pro Shop and both the ammo and handgun racks shelves were almost bare. Employees had no clue when or if more would be available. Quoting: FuzzyLumpkin Let me know if your state is any better, I am in IL! Soooo, the million dollar question is where is the ammo ending up? An assault weapons ban was never expected to pass. What it DID do is serve to distract us all from the UN Small Arms Treaty that I previously mentioned. That will be ratified, and we will have the most serious Constitutional crises on our hands we have ever faced, based on the nature of it and its magnitude. This seems fantastic to me too, but ALL things considered, this nation is ripe for a grab like this. And it would be a one-time opportunity as the "Henry Kissingers" know full-well. My God, the implications are staggering. The smoke would clear eventually, the blood running in the gutters would eventually be washed clean, incidental resistance would be eliminated, and voila - the light would rise over a new horizon and a new age. It sickens me to even entertain this. |
