Dreams, dream meanings, lucid?
I had a dream recently about my aunt who was murdered back in 1998. Her remains were found roughly 3 years ago and we finally got to put her to rest. Her murderer is doing a life sentence in prison.
In the dream she was being her usual happy, playful, self. She said something to me and I can't remember what it was. I said out loud to myself, this has to be a dream, she has been dead so long. She smiled at me. After that she faded into a white light and then the light disappeared.

I have tried so hard to remember what she said to me and I can't.

After she faded I remember thinking, wow she is coming to me in my dreams.

Listen. Most dreams are NOT what they tell you; leftover bits of thought from your daily life.
When you are asleep your mind is more perceptive to realms of existence that physical daily life blocks you from noticing.
You aunt really did visit you, and she really did try to tell you something. If you think about it enough, she will get the message that she needs to come back.
When she does, when you wake up, stay in bed with your eyes closed until the experience has solidified in your mind. Opening your eyes and introducing the physical world to your mind will chase the "dream" out.

You need to make a conscious request before going to sleep - drift off visualizing what you do remember of the dream to help yourself return to it.

The other poster is correct - dreams are much more than we've been told.
“If we are peaceful, if we are happy, we can smile and blossom like a flower, and everyone in our family, our entire society, will benefit from our peace.”
Thich Nhat Hanh, Being Peace

"But ask the animals, and they will teach you,
or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you;
or speak to the earth, and it will teach you,
or let the fish in the sea inform you." - Job 12:7,8

"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." - Hunter S. Thompson

I will try this and see how it works out for me.
