Scopolamine, anyone know much about it?
Apparently Josef Mengele tried using it back in the day.

And the CIA tried using it as a truth serum, so they are prob still trying to perfect it's use, or have done that.

Was it the drug behind the Aurora shooting?

What would it take to be considered the world's scariest drug? A documentary that has gone viral in two days has a suggestion –– it’s one that criminals use to erase your memory and renders you incapable of exercising your free will.
The drug, called scopolamine, also known as ‘The Devil’s Breath,' is derived from a particular type of tree common in Colombia called the Borrachero tree.
The word "borrachero," which roughly translates to "get-you-drunk," grows wild in Bogota,Colombia.

Re: Scopolamine, anyone know much about it?
It is extremely tricky to dose and people react very differently to it. The idea of slipping a little into someone's drink and them becoming a zombie following your every instruction is a grossly simplified example of what would happen. Most people given the drug, even in very small amounts, end up in emergency rooms where they come close to dying.

Any drug used as a truth serum has the inherent flaw where people will tell you what they think you want to hear. This is why torture is not all that great at getting information out of a person either.

"When a patient (of U.S. date-rape drugs) is under hypnosis, he or she usually recalls what happened. But with scopolamine, this isn't possible because the memory was never recorded," said Dr. Camilo Uribe, the world's leading expert on the drug.

Interesting stuff.

I've had it presurgically and for motion sickness. Dries out your mouth, mild dissociative. As drying as it is I am amazed anyone can talk once its at levels high enough to make you want to.

At low doses, for buzz factor, think Sudafed and beer.

Motion sickness version:

The CIA says: Enthusiastic at this success, House concluded that a patient under the influence of scopolamine "cannot create a lie" Because he said the drug ‘will depress the cerebrum to such a degree as to destroy the power of reasoning’. ... there is no power to think or reason."

Re: Scopolamine, anyone know much about it?
I was wondering if anyone knew anyone who had taken it, or given it, experimentally, to see how well it really works.

ie would it work on everyone, or mainly those whom already have difficulty thinking for themselves.

it is used in S America (where I live, yes I am on a VPN) and is used to zombify anyone that they want to rob or rape. It is a pandemic here. I have friends that have been scoped, and they took them to cash machines and pulled money out for the thieves. I am NOT kidding. They said they were awake and knew what they were doing, but had no control.

I dont know the article aparently scopolamine is being administered to patients that are on hospice and palliative care, the theory behind it is that the psychdelic effect has shown evidence of helping pateints at end of life accept life transition with more acceptance

I've watched Vice and youtube clips on it, read the wiki.

It's an interesting drug for it's effects on humans, I certainly wouldn't want to be hit with it.

Side-effects include death.

It's an anticholinergic derived from "nightshade" family. It works similar to atropine, homatropine, and hyoscyamine. It essentially disrupts the connection between the body and the brain via the sympathetic nervous system.

So basically you end up all head or all body. More powerful effect than that of amanita muscaria shrooms.

Re: Scopolamine, anyone know much about it?
Many years ago I had a minor surgery, and back then they often used scopolamine as an anesthesia. They used it on me, and when I woke up I felt like I was having nightmares and I was yelling and screaming on the gurney and when I woke up all the way, I thought WTF? The nurses told me that sometimes people have strange reactions to it that way.

Just from my experience, I don't see how it could be used as a truth serum because it puts you in another world where nothing makes sense.

Its to dry secretions so they don't have as much problem with the "death rattle"

Scopolamine (Transderm Scop®, Scopace®, Isopto Hyoscine®) may be administered by PO, IM, IV, and SC routes. Oral
therapy is initiated at a starting dose of 0.4 mg every 8 hours as needed, whereas parenteral dosage forms are initiated at
a starting dose of 0.4 mg every 4 hours as needed.3, 15, 17, 23 Scopolamine is also available as a transdermal patch, which is
applied behind the ear and changed every 72 hours.9 There is limited evidence to support the application of more than
one patch. One case report and one study showed that two patches were tolerated,24, 25 but the use of three patches is
based solely upon anecdotal reports.14, 15 Because the patch may take up to 12 hours for effect, there are limited benefits
for actively dying patients.9, 14

That all it does. So don't sleep under a tree, pollen actually will do it if it lands on you when napping under these trees.

I used it as an admixture plant in ayahuasca...wasn't too keen on the longer/sketchy feeling effects. When I did it on its own I hated it. The flowers on brugmansia are delicious smelling though.
