That recipe will provide a pathway to citizenship for current illegals and future ones (instead they'll be guest workers) too! And he says he'll keep them off welfare. Impossible, they cannot legally be kept off welfare. |

I guess Rand Paul has sold out on this issue, but maybe others have not. By exposing him we can make it harder to get this horrible idea through the House and Senate. I think there are some congressmen who would oppose it. Just guessing, Sen. Jeff Sessions and Rep. Tom Tancredo would oppose it. |

User ID: 6231580 United States 04/25/2013 01:22 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Here's an editorial in the Washington Times written by Rand Paul. He is supporting the Gang of 8 immigration compromise with some tweaks. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24537404 [link to www.washingtontimes.com] It's bullshit. Read this quote: The third plank of my plan is to secure the taxpayers’ dollars through welfare reform. When reforming immigration laws, our nation needs to make sure we don’t explode our national debt with a pathway to the welfare state. In a perfect world, Congress would be debating welfare reform alongside immigration reform. Yeah right: (1) So guess what happens. The immigration compromise passes, the welfare reform fails. (2) Anyway it would probably be a civil rights violation to keep these newly-legal people off welfare. 14th Amendment "equal protection of the laws" and all that. Rand Paul is not stupid. He knows this. He's selling us out. Just like that other Republican, Marco Rubio. Like the Republicans have always been. They really want these Mexicans to come in. I don't know quite why, it's definitely not for the preservation of the Republican party, because no matter what changes the Republican make, they'll always vote Democratic and everyone knows it. The Gang of 8 deal is totally unacceptable. It's so far to the right it's no basis for discussion and adjustment. It needs to be rejected totally. And Rand Paul is selling us out. why not he betrayed the country initiative to endorse a republican loser and cowtow to establishment. i knew he was nothing then. |
