ALERT! Andrews AFB sending out code on shortwave! Several EAM's today!

I wish I had been listening that night! I've been saving some of the interesting channels for next time. It's been a lot of fun.

Boy they sure are on top of the Skyking testing tonight. Another one just sent out from Andrews AFB.

EAM's or Emergency Action Message. Another very important aspect of the HFGCS is the transmission of EAM's. EAM's are the coded military orders or bulletins that have the highest priority. When EAM's are broadcast, ALL other users of the system are to standby. If you hear a voice giving a long series of letters phonically this is an EAM.

SKYKING messages are special EAM's. These are the nuclear go/no-go codes. There was a higher than normal number of EAM's and SKYKING messages being transmitted after the attackes of 9/11/01. Urgent SKYKING messages are repeated three or four times instead of the usual two. SKYKING is a group callsign, meaning "Any this net." "Do not answer" is the standard procedure ofr self-authenticating broadcasts, meaning that recipients don't need to give away their positions or existence by challenging the orders. While tuned to any of the HFGCS frequncies and hear "SKYKING SKYKING Do not answer" you can bet you're hearing a very important, highest priority, and heavily encrypted message!

Got my 40 meter beam aimed at Andrews, seems quiet now. Reat well.

Rest well that is, you could reat well but sure what that is! Anyway 6.739 seems dead, headed to 4.725. No 80 meter beam, just a humble vertical.

Skyking Skyking do not answer, twice just now from Andrews AFB.

I heard that there was increased activity at Burbelson AFB.

Actually if a facebook page has not many likes, then you can change it's name. There is a great possibility that the page's a fraud.

But in case it's not, why they orchestrated a huge event in such detail and then fuck it up and make a fb page about it before it even happened? To get on our nerves?

The "typical" (many times a day) frequencies for simultaneous EAMs are 4724, 6739, 8992, 11175, 13200, and 15016 kHz, all 6 carrying the same audio.  These are not the only frequencies that might carry parallel EAM transmissions, they are just the most common.  How clearly you hear each frequency will depend on propagation.  How many echos you hear in a transmission, and how deep they are, will also depend on propagation.

When the source is airborne the maximum number of frequencies can be smaller, depending on the platform.  Some aircraft types only support 3 or 4 parallel networks / transmissions on HF.  When the source is airborne you might also find the same EAM on UHF.
