To all Empaths and those who dont know it yet
Today I have come across this thread

Thread: Searching for answers

and what OP described sounded so familiar to me. So I tried to give some advice, based on things I have figured about myself over many years.

I really have to thank Seeker of Truth for mentioning "Empath". hf I wasnt aware that there actually where people being called empaths and have never looked up on that subject. Until today.

So, I googled Empath and came on this wonderful blog here: [link to theknowing1.wordpress.com]

The first words I have read there where

Are you an Empath?

The chances are if you’ve happened across this blog and typed in ‘traits of an Empath’ into any search engine, you will no doubt be an Empath.

Next came "30 Empath traits at a glance" which are completely described me. I read this out to my husband and asked if this would be me, his reply: "Did ou wrote that yourself? Its surely you!"

Here are a few traits as example:

Knowing: Empaths just know stuff, without being told. It’s a knowing that goes way beyond intuition or gut feelings, even though that is how many would describe the knowing. The more attuned they are the stronger this gift becomes.

Being in public places can be overwhelming
: Places like shopping malls, supermarkets or stadiums, where there are lots of people around, can fill the Empath with turbulently vexed emotions that are coming from others.

Feeling others emotions and taking them on as your own: This is a huge one for Empaths. To some, they will feel emotions off those near by and with others they will feel emotions from those a vast distance away, or both. The more adept Empath will know if someone is having bad thoughts about them, even from a great distance.

Watching violence, cruelty or tragedy on the TV is unbearable: The more attuned an empath becomes the worse it is and may make it so they eventually have to stop watching TV and reading newspapers altogether

Others will want to offload their problems on you, even strangers: An Empath can become a dumping ground for everyone else’s issues and problems, which, if they’re not careful can end up as their own.

Love of nature and animals:
Being outdoors in nature is a must for Empaths and pets are an essential part of their life.

Need for solitude:
An Empath will go stir-crazy if they don’t get quiet time. This is even obvious in empathic children.

For me, without knowing about Empaths, it was quiet a hard learning and recognicion process. It took so many years to finally realize.

With this treath I would like to help people who might be Empaths and dont know it yet.

When I moved in to the house I now rent (4 years ago) I noticed a withered rhodedendron behind the house. It was like Charlie Brown's christmas tree.....dried up and neglected. I layed they hose under it and touched it gently, I spoke lovingly to it and promised to take care of it. We became friends. I said I could'nt wait to see it bloom. 2 months later in September, it put out 3 blooms! September! Well, the next summer the landlords stopped by and almost cried when he saw the rhodi. He said it had never bloomed. Now it was 4' tall and covered in countless purple blooms. I promised to give my friend sone plant friends so last test I created a beautiful garden around the rhodedendron. Now there are 6 rhodies and 12 azelias of all colors.

Dont think of it as unfortunate. Once you realized, and importantly acknowledge, who you are it becomes alot easier!
Now you are able to explain alot of things which might have raised questions and confusions before.
Know you have the ability to change and help people, once you can control your empathy.
The maybe hardest part to learn is to tell the difference between you true and someone elses feelings.
If starting to feel differently all of sudden in company of certain people, find a time to step away for a few minutes and "reajust" yourself. Look into yourself and see what changed to the way you felt before. You will learn to tell the difference between your feelings and the others you have soaked up hf

That's me unfortunately.

I am sorry verysad How are you now?
Wonder how many Empaths ended up with "Big Pharma" just because they never had a chance to realize who they truely are and never had a chance to learn how to cope when things got hard on them. I can see how it came to that, its sad really. Luckily I was always able to yank myself up, being in really rough times.
I hope you will find your inner balance and strenght and be able to say bye bye to Big Pharma! hf

Re: To all Empaths and those who dont know it yet
I just kept reading in the blog mentioned and came across this part about "Awakening":

[link to theknowing1.wordpress.com]

Awakening and evolving is a destructive process and, on a soul level, one has to be completely ready for it. There will be some who, in this life, won’t choose it. I don’t believe Empaths had much choice when it came to ‘The Awakening’. We all had the internal alarms set, which when they went off, normally came in the shape of a nagging feeling that something was amiss with us and the world. This then heralded our quest to seek out answers and from there our adventures unfolded.

This pretty much explained how it went with me and how I actually got here on GLP december last year as "lurker"

Reading and discovering the blog is just amazing to me, so much just resonates.

yes this helps me a lot because I feel I am close to an empath, only 22 y/o and also born under Cancer zodiac so it makes all to much sense.

I hate having all these direct emotional connections to people and events. it's something I try to not have but it's difficult. either way I'm glad to know about the details so I'm glad that I found this thread

Thats great! Once you discovered and know you are a Empath, it all will make sense. :)
You will gain a whole new point of view and start using your gift efectivly positiv.
Just make sure to take care of yourself (i know, its a hard part sometimes, because of the strong tendency to put others first). Have plenty of relaxing "quiet times" that will help you if you feel drained.

Im extremely empathic, ( cancer, asc. scorpio, stellium of planets in cancer in the ninth house, neptune in the first house) have known all my life..but when I realized one day that I was also dreaming dreams that others were dreaming ( living in a apt.building)..it was kind of a shocker. The question of so who the fuk am I? What is theirs and what is mine?..its very hard to divide and not to absorb so much, I have a hard time protecting myself too..

one could say these are generalisations, however I answer a strong yes to all of the above - and most of the time it's a pain in the ass. My latest 'encounter' if you will is with a young woman working in a coffee shop...I have to prepare myself to looking into her eyes because she 'bleeds' so much that it's like watching a 3 hour movie in 1 second...

Re: To all Empaths and those who dont know it yet
There's a system of identifying personal traits that was created during WW2 for helping to find placement for the many women that were being called up for the war. It's called The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. It loosely finds through a test of basic "how do you feel or what would you do" in a variety of situations to reveal basic characteristics of people.

The system has 16 major "types" but many people are combinations of types but it does reveal general tendencies and many companies use it as a way to place workers. You can find free 70 question tests online. It's better to try not to learn about the types before you take the test so you don't "try to be a type".

When you understand that there are basic ways that people "process" the world around them and learn how to "speak their language", it helps in relating to others who do not experience the world in the same way.

That's where I learned about the empathic qualities I have and why I have behaved in situations in certain ways and most importantly it helps in relating to others who process the world differently....They're called family.

It's definitely worth the time and can be very revealing.

Just wish I had known about this when I was younger.

Re: To all Empaths and those who dont know it yet
sigh what a sad state of affairs when people are soooooo desperate to become labeled....

I like animals so I MUST be an empath, or I don't get kn with my teachers at school so I MUST be an Indigo Child, or I guessed the end of the movie so I MUST be a psychic, or I saw a room in my dream so I MUST be a remote viewer!!!!

cruise

All these traits are normal in healthy happy people and are not anything to do with special powers or Xmen style mutations.....

If you do enough research you can mould yourself to be any number of pretend scenarios, it is incrediby embarrassing to see people behave this way, WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH YOU?

Re: To all Empaths and those who dont know it yet

Re: To all Empaths and those who dont know it yet
I have known for most of my life, that my emotional sphere of influence was much larger than most. I think it is much harder to declare/develop the emotional transparency "gifts" as a male though. I feel it does deepen life's dialogue, but at the same time there is much I wish to shrug off and walk away from, but I cannot.
I love the woman I am with but I appreciate and need my time alone. I love walking about in nature and enjoying my horses, dog and cats interactions on a daily basis. I avoid drama like the plague whether it is from family, friends or broadcast only because it screws up the internal conflict index.
Peace and love to all!

Re: To all Empaths and those who dont know it yet
Hey Lucy...there are actually a lot more of us than you would think. I've been one for as long as I can remember. It's a curse and a blessing. Its a blessing because it makes me great at me job. (Im a paramedic and own a company that cares for seniors in their home- we are known for our hospice care...make sense)? But it's a curse too. Especially today when there is so much pain in the world. Even on the personal level in working with my hospice families and clients. I feel their pain....which becomes my pain.

And I know I am not the only one on here that is an Empath. I have spoken to many that can verbalize their feelings but not know the actual term. So this is a great post for them.hf
