Going by the above paragraph I would say that Harbin Veterinary Research Institute would have had the funding approved by the Ministry of Health and/or Science R&D in Beijing.

I'm an optimist at heart, but I sometimes worry about the Murphy's Law factor (what can go wrong eventually will go wrong).

Just as the A-bomb was originally an experiment converted into a one-nation-use "war-ender", up to 9 countries now have the A-bomb and some are now threatening to use this weapon preemptively. That means that in a matter of time, it will be.

In many ways, deadly diseases like the one created in this Chinese lab are much worse, because if it is released somehow and manages to spread (i.e, via an international airport) the damage is infinite in scale.

No diseases like this should ever be created.

The scary thing about all this is they typically either travel with their work or have it shipped out via fed ex or some other freight, with little care of IATA guidelines in many cases.

Let's not be so naive as to think the Chinese are the ONLY one's playing God in the world today.

I bet it will be 'accidently' released from the lab in a couple of months.

How can people be so stupid? Aren't these scientists supposed to be intelligent and follow some sort of ethics? Really, this is just plain playing with fire, and the innocent will get burned.
