I just had a conversation with a teenager the other day about this. I told him you know Jesus was against all these rituals and rules, he came to set us free and that the synagogue back then had added so many additional rules, he said they (the leaders) themselves could not follow them. That when Jesus came he went against the hypocritical leaders and all there additional rules and money making schemes to scam the poor and keep people in oppression.
