Was anyone watching this live on cable?

They showed it from beginning to the end, I lived in the south and through some tornadoes and never seen anything like this.

The live camera was from a helicopter several miles away.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14819309

Yep. Saw it all live on CNN and FOX
The engravings translate to "This space intentionally left blank."

The prayer is inscribed in an ancient script, rarely used today. It seems to be a philippic against small insects, absent-mindedness, and the picking up and dropping of small objects.

The gate is open; through it you can see a desolation, with a pile of mangled bodies in one corner. Thousands of voices, lamenting some hideous fate, can be heard.
The way through the gate is barred by evil spirits, who jeer at your attempts to pass.

Yes but unfortunately because of the water tables many homes simply do not have basements

New homes now requite a fortified storm closet but I'm not sure even that would allow someone to survive a storm of this magnitude.

All the idiots like Jim Cantore driving into them disrespect everyone who didn't have a huge chevy suburban to protect themselves.

Disgraceful.
 Quoting: Astral Goat

They should instead be helping move vulnerable people to safe locations instead of trying to one up each other to see who has the best footage for tv.

Huge loss of Farm Animals... Horses the TV said specifically.

On a single farm...

The "Ore" farm? sounds like "Ore" not sure on correct spelling...

75-100 horses killed... more may have to be put down due to injuries... etc

Re: BREAKING! 2 mile wide F4 tornado over I-35 near Moore, OK - Oklahoma City
Let's say you went out into your yard and dug a round hole deep enough to get your body into. You had a piece of board or plywood marked with orange or highly visible coloring with words stating you were in there. The board has a handle so that once you are in the hole, you can hold on and hold the board over the hole, pulling downwards against the suction.

Would this be a good idea? I mean say you are poor and can't really afford a shelter. You are not safe inside your home and need to be underground. I guess a spider hole would be the best idea. Anyone with a shovel should be able to at least dig down and dig a hole.

You need to be highly aware of where you will dig to avoid digging into water or underground power lines. You would probably have to at least dig down four or five feet, enough to crouch.

It might not even be "Legal" to do this, but heck with that.

The live video stream shows the tornado and it isn't even remotely close to 2 miles wide haha.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 22151483

It did get smaller when it changed shape but TWC definitely reported 2 miles when it was just west of 35
 Quoting: fore-eyz

TWC just said it was 2 and 1/4 miles wide at one time.

KFOR weatherman:
"This is the worst torando in the history of the world."

- dude needs a xanax. Ive studied the Joplin tornado, and Ive seen the chopper footage of the damage here and its not as much total damage as Joplin - its maybe a 1/3 of it.

 Quoting: KonaCoffee

erm... that would mean over 1300 DEATHS.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 39716033

The statement was made about the apparent destruction, not the death toll. The death toll will not be anywhere near 1300. In fact, the death toll will seem remarkably low compared to the apparent damage this storm has caused.

Relax, those schools have good underground shelters, unless they had NO warning they should all be okay, maybe a few minor injuries.

as per The Weather Channel

2:45CDT an statement was made to parents that the kids were being held at the school...

only to be released to parents...

Lance West Helicopter pilot confirmed that the plaza tower schools had elementary students inside during tornado...

they are pulling 3rd graders out...

Lance West is a mess and is very emotional... bless his heart...

Actually it does not sound like they had a shelter. People are pulling kids out of rubble now.

No word if they are dead or alive yet.
