Its no longer a search and rescue but a recovery. Devastating..... primarily 3rd graders hanging on in the hallways to survive..... dozens..... I'm crying

At least 24.... if you watched the news you will notice the first responders are the locals and the school decided to keep them... don't rely on anyone to keep your children safe.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 37614430

The school could of let the kids go but kept them (for clarification)
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 37614430

Kudos to the teachers who evacuated the other classes to the church. WHY THE HELL were the 3rd graders not evacuated also ???!!! Whoever made that deadly decision was an IDIOT !!! wtf

My son-in-law has family that is still unaccounted for in Moore. We are praying for everyone.

My grandson is a third-grader. My heart is breaking for so many innocent kids lost - I spent the day at his Field Day celebration last Friday here in Midland. I can't imagine losing so many kids that age all at once. Such unspeakable pain. I can't stop crying.

And the tornadoes and severe storms just keep popping up!!!

Very sad news. They've given up on finding survivors at Plaza Towers Elem. They found 7 children drowned, 20-30 may still be inside.

FYI - In 1999 May 3rd, it was a three mile wide tornado that went through the same area. It is known that Moore gets hit pretty regularly by tornadoes. It's very sad, but not something that has never happened before, tornado-wise.

It's not unusual for areas surrounding these storms and in these storms to get 4-5 inches of rain per hour. I know because I dodged this tornado and found that the entire city was flooded, with the exception of elevated highways. I imagine they probably were in a small basement or room recessed into the ground a bit. They were probably trapped by falling debris and pinned to the floor, which held all that rain.

Look out your window and imagine your neighborhood leveled. In the space of a couple of minutes, your life is changed drastically. I'm watching TWC coverage, just shaking my head. 2013, and we still can't prevent scenes like this.

That's what happens....if you are in torrential rain....look for the flashes on the ground to spot a tornado...it's power lines/transformers getting fucked up.
