Q-bits have been constructed and proven to work, so quantum computing is just around the corner. 3-D printing is set to revolutionize everything in manufacturing. We don't seem to be any more likely to blow up the planet than we were, say, fifty years ago, so I'm cautiously optimistic. We just might last long enough to see what happens next. So, what is it? First thing, in my opinion, is figure out how to get to and live other places besides this one planet. Quoting: The Guy There is a lot more going on than can be seen with out given senses. But we still live our lives fundamentally the same: Grow, learn, find a way to earn food and social standing, find a mate, raise offspring, grow old, pass on knowledge, die. When something changes all that, that's when I'll think the Singularity has come. It's good to be open-minded, just don't let your brain fall out. |
