My perspective has always been not to go searching for love, but more to put yourself in the right places and let love come to you. But it all depends on what you are looking for. Looking for love in a bar probably isn't the best place. People in bars generally are just looking for someone to fill their current sexual desires. And many lack the mental stability to maintain a trusting relationship. Which is why they are in a bar looking for a "good time."

Love can be found in grocery stores, book stores, college campuses, and any place where people have a sober mind. The reason being is they are generally more secure with themselves, and are not desperately "searching for love."

So I guess I would say, the earlier you give up searching for love the earlier love will find you. The sooner one becomes secure with being alone; the sooner love will stop being pushed away with desperation.

I think that the best definition of love is that found between children/parents, and a close second to that would be the love among other family members.


As far as romantic love... I think it starts out with infatuation, then that wears off. After that, if you're left with any compatibility, good for you. Commitment is all that is left after that point... you either decide to stay with them (for whatever reason), or you don't.

I dunno. I'm 53, have been single for about 5 years, after the traumatic breakup of my last relationship. After this last one, I said "never again", but I guess there's still the possibility of finding someone even though I'm not actively looking. I've become very gun-shy due to my past experiences. Crazy cat lady sounds pretty good!

I'm certainly no expert, but I suspect the answer is "never."

I think you have to decide that whether you find "real/true love" or not, you're going to have a good life, and enjoy yourself. Somewhere in the midst of doing this, it seems that often the "true love" shows up, and upsets whatever plans you had made in order to have a good life without this "real/true love" person. This leads to a very confusing time in your life in which you have to decide what is most important to you in having a great life. Very confusing, indeed!
