It's true. I really am disabled, but I accept myself that way.

If you would have read that thread about Gluten it would be obvious why I was talking about that.

People with autism cannot digest the proteins in wheat, and when it get's into the bloodstream it travels to the brain where it causes a false-opiate like reaction.

I have met with a forensic copper who is autistic! His job was enhanced by his unusual abilities!

Strange that gluten has been mentioned , I am 48 and recently given up eating anything with gluten in as I was feeling "bloated" and OMG , everything seems clearer , I don't get the bloating and I have 100% more energy , my son is 10 and I Home School him , we both wear hearing aids so I suppose in a way we both are disabled , he s been Home Schooled since March and I kind of cut out the amount of wheat/gluten he s been eating , well he has picked up maths a lot quicker than he was at school , in fact the school were in the process of a dyscalculia diagnosis for him when I removed him as I thought it was bollocks.....turns out I was right!!
So if you feel a bit sluggish or think you are borderline asd quit the bread , pizza etc.....also gluten is in a lot more things than you expect....even some tinned soups contain it so you have to read the labels on EVERYTHING....

The reason why someone would accept a diagnosis like this is because they have such low self-esteem, that they would value someone else's opinion above their own. Yes, it's a manipulation tactic.

Actually it was my opinion long before the doctors found out.

Jeez. What if I had no legs. Do I need a doctor to tell me I can't walk?

It is a spectrum as someone else pointed out. I don't feel I'm disabled but I need to decode rationally and consciously things "normal" people do without thinking. If you can learn to function in society, even witha little extra work, don't feel like you're disbaled, because you also have some realy good qualities. I have it and will soon be a certified psychologist or so I hope.

About the tan?

have you heard how Jenny McCarthy supposedly "healed" her son of autism... for some it is debilitating and people should know there is a cure and many are returning to more normal schooling and social inter-actions...

You are a complete hat!! If you do some research you will see AUTISM comes in many forms. Apparently you do not have enough info under your belt to understand? Ever see an autistic make beautiful music yet be unable to hold a conversation? Paint amazing pictures, yet music turned up a what seems to be a level most would not mind go into a complete meltdown?
You can not pigeon hole them nor anyone for that matter, geez classify pep's much? You must be for segregation uh?

Don't you hate being given a label that's meant to restrict you? Good for you, you didn't fall for that! Back in my day we used to say people were shy, slow, and we let it go at that and let them work it out on their own with no special considerations. We usually found the way ourselves.

Yeah life is a bitch, when will people learn sometimes it just aint fair. Move on and quit trying to help everyone and you'll find out, most had it all along. That kind of thing will ruin 100 people to "fix" just one.

Give a sound man a wheelchair and in a month he won't be able to walk.
