Bubonic Plague "Black Death" Flea outbreak 2013
I help rescue and give vet services for animals here in south Texas...this year, the flea outbreak has been massive. I've been living here off and on for the last 7 years and I've never seen anything like it.

Maybe one flea here or there, but this year, there are hundreds, possibly thousands.

The best vet in town says it's like this all over the area and worse yet- the fleas aren't responding to any flea treatments.

I give all the animals that pass through my care Revolution- it usually knocks fleas, worms, mites dead within a day or two...these fleas are immune...it's doing nothing.

OK, so massive flea outbreak of pesticide-immune flea annoying but no big deal right?

Until this just popped on Drudge:

Apparently plague cases caused by fleas infected with the Black Death pop up in ones and twos here and there in the U.S. every year...but combined with the pesticide-immune fleas outbreak this year the next state over...this could be the perfect recipe for a shitstorm.

What is their strategy for wildlife? I'm worried about the native animals.

Have you tried diatomaceous earth on the fleas? Normally I wouldn't use that, as it's got to be messy, but better than letting the fleas live. You can shake it onto the dogs and brush it into their coats. It should work on the fleas like wood ashes in the poultry coops work on mites.
