If you have to punish a child who’s done something wrong, speak to them gently and with kindness in your eyes
"Some teachers and even parents, exasperated by the behaviour of the children in their care, will look daggers at them, unaware that these children will remember such looks of hatred all their life. Although children may not understand, they are sensitive, and they can feel what is in a look. A slap or a spanking, if needed, can do them no harm, but be mindful of how you look at them. Children soon forget they have been slapped or spanked, but they will never forget a nasty look.

Occasionally, parents with particularly difficult children have come to me for advice, and I have told them, ‘If you have to punish a child who’s done something wrong, speak to them gently and with kindness in your eyes. Tell them they are going to be punished, because there are rules you can do nothing about; even cry with them, if you have to, and then go ahead and smack them! The child will understand they are not being punished out of malice but to teach them there are laws that cannot be evaded. This way you are instilling into their mind true notions of justice.’"

children are very stubborn. physical and mental punnishment does not work the way you think on them. they are not like adults.

Are you kidding me?

I have twin 4 year old girls.

Most of the time they don't listen to me.

But the minute I throw that evil eye, they know I'm damn serious and listen right up.

I am 100% confident they know that I love them to death!

I get compliments all the time from strangers telling me how good I am with my girls and or how well mannered they are.

To each his own.

Always ask nicely the first time, and then beat them with a rubber hose if you have to tell them twice.

I've never had to hit my kids, I found that reasoning with them and using logic works great...now before the age of reasoning I'd smack their hand if they tried to put their finger in an electrical outlet, but that's different.

Geez, I never even hit my horse, even when she wanted to kill me. You've got to reach into that intelligence and get that heart

Punishment improperly administered can ruin parent/child relationship for life.
As AN 11 yr old (now 77) my mom lost it one day dealing with my pestering her for something she did not want me to have. Suddenly she grabbed my dad's belt and went into a mad frenzy and beat me and could not stop because of her rage. I felt her hate for me through that beating and I never felt the same toward her all my life. Neither of us spoke of it ever again and our relationship was never normal after that. She blamed me for causing her to lose self control. I blamed her for her hatefulness. Nobody won.

Adults dont have kindness in them, so you state the impossible.

If adults did have kindness in them, like you just said, the why the World wide lack thereof.

Doing what you suggest is adults thinking they are one thing, while doing another.

Sure, most are nice to kids, until they grow up, and then those kids they were nice to they treat like shit.

That is why in the future, the Human species will not turn into Adults, as a new phase in the Human experiment will begin.

Re: If you have to punish a child who’s done something wrong, speak to them gently and with kindness in your eyes
For all those that boo, I ask you, how do you live where you do?

Was it not through defeating what you were told was a savage terrorist, and that by eradicating them you would have peace?

Aye.

That goes on today, with the boogie man terrorist in a cave.

On the playground when young, did you ever get your friends together, and plan how to kill all the other kids, and then take over the school?

Some will say kids do that now, but it was not always this way, and as adults got worse, that is what the children learned.

By their Nature however, do children think up such grand machinations of destruction?

Someone said long ago, "let the little children come to me, for unless you have a heart like they, you will not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven."

The meek will inherit the Earth.

The meaning of the word used here is "teachable".

Children are the only ones who are teachable.

They have been learning to be sociopathic war mongering adults that like to destroy each other.

This will not last, and if it were not for the sake of such goodness still left within them, on Earth, all flesh would be allowed to destroy itself, for that is what it deserves, due to its free will of doing so.

Free will is only useful to a point.

If you give free will to two men, and they decide to go out and have mortal combat, free will is wasted, is it not?

God does not waste, and certainly does not create a species like Humans, for the sole purpose of them destroying themselves.

If that is their free will, then God himself will destroy Man, Gods creation, and start over with the clay, and fine tune as is seen fit.

If I'll have a child and he won't obey, I'll spank the shit out of him. I don't care what people say.
