If I remember my 6th grade history correctly, Australia was settled by British convicts which were sent to the island to alleviate pressure on the British prisons. Australia was sort of a modern day version of Guantanamo Bay.

Question...When is Australia's Independence Day? How about educating us American's instead of spewing hate and spamming my thread.

Just so you know prisoners were also sent to America from the British Empire. Ben Franklin wrote in one of his newsletters that we should send rattlesnakes to England to thank them for the prisoners. Which is the reason why the snake is a major symbol of the revolution.
