Jesus NEVER existed.

I am not promoting Judaism by posting this, just pointing out that according to the bible, Jesus is the False Prophet.

Who Was Jesus?

The Bible gave a warning about a dangerous, false prophet who would arise to test our faith in G-d. In Deuteronomy 13, G-d describes this false prophet as a member of the Jewish people (v. 2, 7) who would tell true prophecies and would have the power of miracles. G-d Himself would give this false prophet the power to perform miracles and reveal prophecy, but the false prophet would try to seduce the people away from G-d's Law and towards strange gods unknown to Judaism. The purpose would be to test whether we are truly committed to living under the Law, or whether we will be dazzled and fall for the temptation to join a false path to salvation (v. 3-6, 7-8, 11). In this Biblical passage, G-d repeatedly commands the Jews to kill this false prophet, lest the evil spread and destroy many souls.

This book was recommended to me by a Christian when I mentioned that I am mostly interested in the topic of historical accuracy and historical evidence (or lack there of) when it comes to the Bible. I made it clear to my friend that I do not accept the Bible as both the evidence and the claim that it is true. That is exactly what this book is. Strategically picked "scholars" are chosen by McDowell to support his claims while actual evidence is severely lacking. Not only is the evidence lacking, but there are many cases when the truth is stretched or completely made up by the author. Before purchasing this book, I'd suggest looking up many of the responses to this book which shatter it's credibility.

I'm wouldn't be so quick to jump the ship and say he 'didn't exist' in 'any' capacity.

I've seen compelling research from Ralph Ellis and others that he may have been a Prince born of a King near Syria in the town of Edessa. He was a true revolutionary at his time.

The Romans certainly managed to build up quite the mythology around him, and turned his little story into an amalgamation of earlier cultures, mostly Egyptian, Druidic, Mythraiam, etc, largely based on Astrology.
