I know I'm an old fart, but what's happened to comedy movies? I was watching Ghostbusters the other day with my kids and that movie is hysterical. I just don't find the newer crop nearly as funny.

What's your favorite comedy from the 70s-90s?

Truly great comedies of that timeframe are Monty Python and the holy grail, history of the world, the gods must be crazy, the jerk, and caddy shack. I'm sure I'm missing a few but these stand out as all time favorites of mine.
There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

I agree with you. I love Laurel and Hardy and laugh out loud watching them. It dawned on me that their humor was self-deprecating where today's comedians belittle and make fun of others. That, plus a liberal amount of "shock" words which are losing their meaning is what they rely on rather than being genuinely funny or humorous.

Eddie Murphy's Delirious was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. I still can't believe that man went on to make kids' movies.

Thanks!

It's unfortunate: if there's ever a non-animated comedy that comes out that looks good it's almost always rated R. Comedy that depends solely on dirty/potty jokes, bad language and T&A usually isn't all that funny, IMO.
