Seeking wisdom from GLP members - is impending old age justification for suicide?
Just to clarify this is just a theoretical question.

I look at so many people as they get older struggling with health problems, divorce, apathy/boredom, physical degradation, and the fading of looks.

Just as an example, a man who has a near record for continuous days of running decides to break the streak at 62. I thought this guy must be in great shape and looking good to by running 5 miles a day for 25 years.

But what do I see but an old man, no offense intended, losing his hair. It's really sad and unless you have the support of a good woman and/or friends what is the point?

Old age is a great teacher, perhaps vanity may be one of those lessons for one example

obviously you are ignorantly young, one day you will come to experience what "mature" people already know, and that is your soul does not age, most people, "in their mind" feel like they were still in their 20's; until, of course, they looking into a mirror

If you're terrified of becoming old; then, why don't you just end it now and save yourself all that worry

OP, thank you for bringing up this topic. I have been struggling with this for awhile. I was ok until I was around 63. Obviously, people are different. I now see the wisdom in death panels.

We dont need justification for suicide. If you dont enjoy your life and you change it, end it. If there's smoke in the cabin, leave.

If you enjoy your life, even if its just feeding birds in the park, enjoy.

Whats tragic is when people who want to live kill themselves because they run out of money or cant access medical treatment or cant get over trauma or abuse. Old age isnt so bad. I am fifty. Its amazing the self acceptance that comes with the cellulite and creaky joints.

If you are fifty and still a liberal then you should absolutely do it for your country because according liberal progressive theology your breathing releases carbon and water vapor, babies overpopulate the earth, your car and house use resources that heat the earth, etc. Take the entire liberal fam with and really make a difference.
