If it wasn't for NASA, you wouldn't even know there was a fragmented comet in the sky, period.

OPie (and many others) have a hardon for NASA...They think we should have warp drive and holodecks by now...

I usually am less cynical than most GLP'ers, but I DO think NASA hides UFO data, as well as hiding the "best" Mars photos.

Let's put it this way, IF the Mars rovers show obvious signs of "artifacts" on the surface, the PUBLIC WILL NEVER BE TOLD.

what ever they say, in essence means the opposite.

There are Ph.D's there that wield alot of power within their nerd domain.

They care about the public, but love being called "doctor" by 50-100 drones, so they do exactly what the politicians tell them to do or else they loose that privilege.

The Ph.D's at NASA are not stupid...they are weak.

If something really bad were to happen, I guarantee that at least one of them would grow a backbone and loose his job to tell the US what is going on.

This comet thing will blow by, leaving the best meteorite show in written history.

Then the governing powers will try to get the Sheeple herded back into their jobs, cars, tax brackets, etc.

The governing powers do not want to loose their status either and large meteors and small asteroids impacting earth would show the world how ineffective they are at solving problems.

To me NASA is 2 things, a company that has the ability to cause devices that were once on Earth, to leave Earth. They are also a company that has produced a multitude of insanely cool processes/materials/gadgets/devices. Look at "aero-gel" wicked cool stuff (coming to a 3-D tv in the future, just as soon as they figure it out), look at titanium nitride coatings, look at ceramic tiles, look at lubricants, double cured carbons, composite metal matrix structures, etc.

I don't know where they get their bearings, but I have a liquid oxygen/liquid hydrogen (with the clever inert liquid nitrogen between the 2) rocket fuel pump sitting here with a double bearing so smooth and silky, it can't help but remind me of a certain young lady's sweaty stomach and a piece of ice I was effortlessly gliding in slow circles, twas during a hot night in July, 1994 I think it was...many moons ago. Even through her hollow breathless whimpers I couldn't help but be amazed me how frictionless the ice felt against her tight abdominal curves, her tanned skin so smooth and supple...(get hold of yourself C.F. you weren't that great man)...anyways, these NASA bearings are as smooth as silk.

I don't care if they went to the moon or not, to be honest with you. Most of their missions don't seem to have much to hold the common World citizen's interest or attention...there's nothing in it for us (unless seeing another "classified military payload" does something for you).

On a closing note I would love to have access to their "scrap metal" pile/box, high nickel stainless, titanium alloys, magnesium, maybe even some graphite or special ultra dense aluminums, if anyone knows who to call about that stuff post a message. Free to dirt-cheap is the price range I'm willing to contribute (I think my taxes already paid for the stuff actually), and I promise to use it for good and not evil.
