Not good for Solar watchers at all. That's what I said, and with them predicting a much stronger cycle 24 then what acutely happened, I'm worried they are over predicting cycle 25 as well. This is what lead to the little ice age the first time, it took 26 years in to the Dalton minimum for the “year without a summer” and the Dalton minimum was only 1 degree Celsius below global average temps, the time period was also marked large amounts of volcanic activity. This is the frog in the boiling pot of water type of doom, not going to realize what happened till it’s too late. It’s going to be long and slow and I do not see a chance of the models changing cycle 25’s predictions in a good way possible. I'm only human, it's my biggest flaw. As I understand it David Archibald who was highly criticized for his prediction in 2006 of cycle 24 and 25 being extremely week still stands behind his position. His cycle 24 estimate was much closer then NASA’s 06 charts. Snip; Projections of weak solar maxima for solar cycles 24 and 25 are correlated with the terrestrial climate response to solar cycles over the last three hundred years, derived from a review of the literature. Based on solar maxima of approximately 50 for solar cycles 24 and 25, a global temperature decline of 1.5°C is predicted to 2020, equating to the experience of the Dalton Minimum. To provide a baseline for projecting temperature to the projected maximum of solar cycle 25, data from five rural, continental US stations with data from 1905 to 2003 was averaged and smoothed. The profile indicates that temperatures remain below the average over the first half of the twentieth century. Mind you he also said 50 sun spots for cycle 24 and 50 for cycle 25 peak, now mainstream prediction for cycle 25 is less than 25 sunspots.
