The intent for Americans to guard their individual lives and individual rights with arms is quite clear. Among other considerations, the founders were all too aware of the historical certainty of undue influence seeking undue control and power – it had been seen in cycle after cycle of European history. Conspiracy and court intrigue go hand in hand, and the aspirations of the power hungry are increased when they see a defenseless population, or an unaware rival.

The founders knew that it was only a matter of time before someone tried to take over their system, thus the attempt to put checks and balances into place. Even with the best intentions, police are only prepared to show up after the fact of a crime – they are first responders, after all – and sort out the resulting balance of victims and assailants. The establishment know full well that talk of limiting the Second Amendment is ludicrous from a common sense standpoint, which makes their intentions all the more suspect that undue powers wish to have a defenseless population.
