We find ourselves in a terrible situation, where everything we do and say is recorded and analyzed by our fascist government. How then are we to unite with each other against injustice without being infiltrated, subverted and preempted?

Here's an idea. This is a formula for win.

Imagine 2 or 3 neighbors you know and trust coming to your door with this instructions sheet:

Neighborhood Activation
For safe, covert and efficient distribution of news and community plans

Terms you should know:
Trail: The path taken while talking to neighbors or other members of the community. This is decided upon by those who take part.

Neighbor: Right now, this is you. “Neighbor” in this document does not always mean “neighbor” in the literal sense. It is often preferred that people being visited are actually neighbors of some member of the team. However, in this document, “neighbor” refers to whomever this document is currently being presented to, whether it be a neighbor, friend or family member.

Activation Squad/Trail Team: These are members of the Activation. They are those who take part in the main function of the Activation by traveling in teams to spread the Activation's message with members of the community.

Kicker: The Neighborhood Activation drive creator and writer of the Activation's Message.

Kicker's Instructions: This document provides the Kicker's instructions. These instructions have been tailored by the Kicker to best suit the needs of this Activation. The general, unaltered instructions come from the Neighborhood Activation Template, which can be found online.

Kicker's Message: This is the fuel and main reason for the Activation. It is either news that needs to spread secretly or it is a plan to organize, protest or take action in some way.

[[[ Instructions for Kicker's design implementation:
1. Choose an Activation Type. There are 3 different types, all with their own levels of security, speed of message transfer, and group unity.
The Activation Types are:
I. Foghorn (2,10,3)
II. Fiber (6,5,7)
III. Dark (10,2,9)
(sections in parentheses provide approximation of levels of security, speed of transfer, and unity, respectively. 1 is lowest score, 10 is highest)

After selecting your Activation Type, delete all instructions from this form that belong to the other Activation Types. The instructions for different Activation Types have been marked with the Activation Type's name, between square brackets ( […] ), and can be found at the beginning of the instruction lines.

2. Sections between square brackets ( […] ) contain information intended to be read only by the Kicker, simply to help the Kicker gain a better understanding of the intent of the instructions and to provide tips. Delete all sections between square brackets before publishing the instructions, as these sections will make the instructions more difficult to read if they remain.

3. Curly brackets ({…}) indicate a default value, or choice, made by the creator of the Neighborhood Activation Template. The Kicker should consider each of these values and decide whether or not the default value should be changed to better suit their Activation. After changing, deleting, or accepting the values provided, the Kicker should remove all curly brackets surrounding these values. ]]]

Kicker's Instructions:
- Show these instructions to each neighbor you visit so they understand the rules and that you would like them to take part as an equal in the Activation. Do not show or tell them the Kicker's message unless they agree with the instructions and are interested in taking part in the Activation. {You may hint as to what it is regarding, but without giving away any details about the Kicker's message.}

- Anyone may decline taking part in the Activation if they do not agree with the message or plan. However, as a courtesy to their neighbors involved in the Activation, it is preferred that decliners not tell anyone about the Activation, message, or plan for at least {3 hours} after hearing about it.

- There are no leaders of these movements. Everyone is an equal member on the team. Do not try to force any member to do anything they do not want to do.

- No digital devices on the trail. Leave your cellphones, cameras, audio recording and GPS devices at home.

- Do not plead with or coerce any neighbor to take part in the Activation. If they are interested in taking part, they will. If not, please leave them alone.

- [Fiber, Dark] Beware of eavesdroppers. Try to keep your conversations quiet and out of earshot of others. It should be assumed that children living in the home of the visited, or unexpected people in these homes, could be listening. Try to get a private audience and let the papers do most of the talking.

-[Fiber, Dark] Do not call, text or fax anyone about the message. Do not digitally store or spread the message in any way, unless specified otherwise later in these instructions.

- [Dark] {Do not reveal the Activation to anyone{until keeping it a secret is no longer necessary for member safety and the Activation's goals}.} [An option is to have a second instructions sheet to place this instruction in. Then this first sheet will filter out those who might be too shy of such terms. Remember, you can modify anything you wish.]
- [Fiber] It is requested that you delay the release of any information associated with any member's involvement in the Activation, including your own, as well as all information contained within the message for at least {2 days}.
- [Foghorn] {Be vocal about the message after you hear it. Spread it however you like, but first get the Activation to neighbors in teams, face-to-face. Remember, no digital devices on the trail.}

- Only approach neighbors you know. Of those, only choose neighbors that members of the Activation Squad believe would be receptive to the news or plan and would be trustworthy enough to not compromise the Neighborhood Activation.

- Do not leave the written message or these instructions with anyone who does not take part in the Activation Squad.

- Each member should be asked to visit at least {3} of their own neighbors on the trail. Sometimes, neighbors not known by a member will be visited by that member, although some member of the squad must know and trust the neighbor.

- Walk {- do not drive -} to your neighbors for the first {3} homes you visit, unless walking is not a viable option. After {3} homes, you may travel by other means to your friends and family to get the message to them and start new Activation Teams to get the word out in new neighborhoods. If no one within walking distance meets the potential member criteria, you do not need to meet with them just to satisfy the request to spread the Activation on foot. Try to bring other Trail Team members along with you when you are going outside of your own neighborhood to spread the Activation.

- The ideal number of members on a trail team is {3}. Too many members may scare away neighbors that you visit. Once a team hits {4} members, the team should split into 2 teams.

- Potential visits to make are to be discussed and voted on quickly. Do not spend more than {2 minutes} talking and voting about whether to make a visit to someone. [Foghorn] Ties in the vote are to be considered as approval for visiting. [Fiber] Ties in the vote result in a no-visit. [Dark] No one may be visited unless the vote to visit is unanimous.

- [Dark, Fiber] Although documents used or created during the Activation may eventually be of historical importance or sentimental value, ALL documents used or created during the Activation are to be burned and disposed of within {2 days} of the creation of such documents. This is to pacify fears of Activation members regarding the possibility of receiving unjustified, unconstitutional blow-back from natural accusers and/or predators. The sale, display, depiction or preservation of such documents will most likely be considered an affront to members of the Activation, unless specified otherwise later in these instructions.

- After a new member on the Activation Squad visits their first house, they are then given another member's copy of these instructions and a copy of the message. If there are not enough copies, please write them down by hand. Once a member leaves the group, they should give the copies they were given to a new member. The message should be written down by each member in their own hand and taken home, unless it is not necessary. [Dark, Fiber] Again, do not use any digital devices to duplicate or retain the message. [The Kicker should provide enough copies to the original team so that the future teams will not run out of them right away.]

- The process for any visit goes as follows: Ask your neighbor if they have time to read the instructions and hear the message. Let them read these instructions. Ask them if they are interested in continuing and if they agree to follow these instructions. If they are, then show them the second set of instructions, if there is a second set. If they agree to all of the instructions, let them read the message. You may talk about it for a bit, especially if explanations are needed. The visited neighbor should then be asked if they will take part on the Activation Trail Team.

- If they can't take part in the Activation Trail Team right away, but agree with the message and are willing to take part in the final plan, tell them to come and talk to one of the team members later to get the specifics they need, as you cannot leave the message with them.

-[Dark] After visiting a neighbor, leave a {small triangular piece of paper, with one corner folded down} on the ground within 5 feet of that person's door or gate (if applicable). This is to indicate to other teams that the person has been visited already and should not be approached again. Members should be on the lookout for these markers and stay away from marked homes in order to avoid increased exposure. These markers should be left whether the neighbor participates or declines.

[Focusing on actual neighbors brings increased localized safety to participants, as neighbors will be watching out for one another and will be "in it together". This way, the spread of the Activation will be more localized and will spread from there to create other localized Activation fronts. This is the preferred method over having everyone get on the road at the same time and be detected too soon, especially as technology has made our movements something measured and analyzed by the powers that be. Going directly to friends and family first will create a more fractured formation. It is best to physically surround yourselves with Activation members.]
