Unable to get weather alerts in city on any radios. NOAA aware. Anyone else??

Just off the phone with them after voicing concern that my location is unable to pick up radio alerts in the city I am living in FL. It isn't a small city, but was told we are not near a repeater or tower and will have to rely on other means of alerts.

All this after going through 2 home based weather alert stations with an external antennae and 2 portable ones. No luck with them driving around in the area either.

Internet and cell are only as good if they are up and running during hurricanes and tornadoes.... We in the city are not able to get NOAA weather alerts during power outages or if our cell phones are down.

The forecaster I spoke with said also that nothing could be done due to the extreme financial problems they are having. I wanted to let others know so they can make sure they have everything they need up and running in case of inclement weather or weather emergencies.
