Re: most underrated movies of all time.
longest post ever..

Once in a Blue Moon
Requiem For A Dream
Pi
Children of Men
Waterworld
Escape from NY & LA
Pan's Labyrinth & The Devil's Backbone
Into The Wild
In Bruges

ur absolutely right.movies like office space and idiocracy did generate their own fan base once the word got around and today are not underrated at all.

children of men came out with the road ,book of eli and shortly after i am legend and a whole bunch of other post apocalyptic films.its a great film.
pi,is a really good one,even less than underrated.brilliant.
waterworld is an interesting one, known as one of the biggest flops in history yet almost everyone i ve spoken to like it.its mad max on water.
requiem for a dream for me was exactly like how you described oldboy .dark and very artsy film.i disliked the rawness of it.i think ass to ass crosses the line.again at the time,it probably went over my head a could be worth another look.
into the wild is one i've spoken of many times and got in many arguements over.i absolutely love the first 3 quarters, but the ending is very deflating.i know its based on a true story but hey have no problem embellishing a true story.in the end,the movie promoted the idea that no matter how adaptable you are,how prepared, you cant survive without the system.reason i feel so strongly on this is i'm gonna do it one day.i got nothing to lose.

an extremely well written film.thats the thing when a film is pretty much shot in one location.storytelling and characters become key.some way into the film theres an "oh shit" kinda moment which is priceless.a gr8 film

Anyone say the movie BARFLY? It's an 80's movie loosely based on writer Charles Bukowski's time in L.A. (basically about a drunken writer that seems to get in alot of bar brawls) Seen it a million times and it never gets old. Thinking about watching it now come to think of it.

It's got Micky Rourke and Faye Dunaway in it. CLASSIC

Re: most underrated movies of all time.

not particularly an underrated film.they were hugely limited by budget so it is compromised with where they could take the story but i love the premise that music, the universal language can save us all.

im sorry but michael breaks my no1 rule of movie making [other than no baldwins]the only time its acceptable to have a dog die in a film is when the movie in centered on the dog,ie hachicko-a dog story,my dog skip or red dog.i dont care even if he brings it back to life and especially not a jack russell.
