What we have come to know as the "civil rights" movement did not begin with MLK. The groundwork had been laid by the Republican Party, formed as an abolitionist party, for 100 years prior. MLK and the movements throughout the mid 1960's, the Civil Rights Bill and so fourth, were the culmination of that groundwork, MLK himself being a Republican. What the 1960's / MLK era was, in effect, was a national repudiation of the race-based, discriminatory, segregationist politics that the Democrat Party had been practicing almost since it's inception. It is so over-the-top disingenuous now for the Democrat Party poverty pimps to come out of the woodwork and claim that era and it's legacy as their own as to be past the point of human insult.

Why is it necessary for the leftist revisionists to begin 'civil rights" in the early 1960's? Because that is the first historic period where virtually ANYONE from the Democrat Party can be tied to it. And even then many within the party were fighting tooth and nail to retain the "Old Order".

Now, these same leftist assholes are parading themselves around, cloaking themselves in King's "Dream" speech while at the same time their every action betrays his message. MLK, above all else, championed CHARACTER over color, while these race baiting poverty pimps champion just the opposite. He would turn over in his grave if he was to witness how his uplifting message of brotherhood and essence of character was being perverted by self-serving, pseudo-socialists who now attempt to co-opt his message for their own personal gain.

"Civil Rights" is about the God-given rights that every American is BORN WITH. MLK simply challenged the US to live up to the creed of it's founding. Civil Rights belong to us ALL! They are NOT the sole property of particular political constituencies.

Fuck off, Democrat Party. If left to your devises, NONE of what you now try to claim as your own would have ever come to pass.
