Vatican Jesuit priest was helping rebels and was against Assad regime. So the question stands.. What was a Jesuit priest doing in Syria and why was he supporting rebels (terrorists)?

This Jesuit priest was murdered and shortly after that Vatican spoke out about Christians being murdered all over the world and it should be stopped. What is going on?
