It's amazing how different all their personalities are. We play the red light green light game, hide and seek, laser tag and they actually have a whole toy box full of cat toys. Yes, they are spoiled! Some are cuddle bunnies, some are end of the bed loungers, 3 of them are big time talkers and one thinks he is still a baby and wants to be held all the time (he's 4 years old now but we got him when he was about 3 weeks so basically bottle fed him etc...). Most of them for some odd reason sleep on their backs with their legs sprawled out, guess it's comfortable to them. It can be bit expensive and time consuming taking care of them but well worth it. I can't imagine my life without them. Three cheers to all the animal lovers and rescuers out there!!! Quoting: CharlestonSC Yes! Before I knew them up close, I thought all of them were the same. But no, they are full beings being cats now, and each one has a different character. Exactly. They are just like people... you got your grumpy ones, loverbugs, pouters, bullies, shy ones, silly ones, etc...certain likes and dislikes for each one, just like us. A lot of people don't realize this, they just think a cat is a cat plain and simple. Nice to hear from someone who does. |

Mine takes care of snakes, chases the deer even. my cat is un-hateable. Because hes more man in cat form, than most people Imeet. My cat just chills. He is so low maintnance its scary. He really is an awsome pet. We have gotten to the point where we can comunicate and come to a basic understanding, i can tell what and when he wants things. and he takes care of the property. dosn't even use the litterbox anymore, just goes outside. He also scratches mostly trees outside so nothing is ever tore or messed up. hes so well behaved its kinda scary. How could somone dislike that. train them right theyre members of the family. not my fault yours pisses and shits everywhere! my cat wrestles snakes for enjoyment. anybody elses do that? |

Whenever I am not feeling well or am injured, she stays right next to me at all times. Quoting: Lady Jane Smith I had influenza last winter; she only left my bed to eat or go potty. She was right back next to me as soon as she took care of her necessities. Not only that, they know where your health problem is. When I'm ill in bed, my cat leans against the part of my body that is in pain and stays there a long time. They can heal some diseases. This is true. I had a close friend who had a miscarriage and her cat lay with her the whole time she was recuperating. He would often sleep on her stomach. Occam's Razor, morans! |

All of his cats were saved from the shelters [ I think he had 14 in all], but his most beloved kitty was named Delilah. One his last album [not the very last when the last album when he was alive] had a song about Delilah. [link to www.youtube.com] In fact his "goodbye" video to his fans featured Freddie wearing a vest showing all of his feline friends. Warning: this is a very hard video to watch as Freddie was very close to death at this point due to him being sick with AIDs. [link to www.youtube.com] Also, I really don't trust people who don't like cats. Hitler, was a cat hater. [link to mysmelly.com] Anyway I have a cat that has came back from the dead three times now. The first time was Christmas eve one year after he died. The second time was Easter this time two years after he died. Its the same cat every time. All of his mannerisms, such as NO human food except for hand fed fruits, always afraid of thunderstorms, same color, same voice, same personality. Each time he passes away I thanked God for sending him to me, and so far he has always came back.[youtube] Last Edited by M-train on 09/10/2013 05:24 PM "People make grand plans for life as it passes them by." |

He will fall back down and give that Bart Simpson look "nobody saw me do that". Quoting: chuckles45 awww! LOL my fat boy does that. one time he went to get on the window sill but he's too fat to fit like the other cats, so he bounced. poor kitty. or i love it when he tries to get up on the counter but doesn't get up all the way, then slowly tries to do a pull up, the fails. (OP) User ID: 1302027 United States 09/10/2013 04:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Love hearing everyone's stories, thanks for sharing. Kitties definitely have varied personalities, with our young litter, there is the alpha male who asserted himself from day 1 - he would take the best nipple and elbow everyone else out of the way, he is also bigger and looks different than the rest; different father maybe? mom is a domestic shorthair and all the kittens are black short haired, green eyed kitten like the one above. Except the kittler. He's bigger, has short stubby paws and has long hair, he's fluffier and his bone structure is different. He looks almost identical to this guy: [link to photos.petfinder.com] And our kittler is very even tempered, very sweet and cuddly. Seeks us out, observes us closely and is very independent and curious and highly intelligent. He's the leader of the pack and the one I use to train the rest. If kittler does it, the rest follow, so that's been handy with training. He's impossibly cute and adorable, we literally all fight over who gets to hold or play with him, he just lets us, poor thing, he's so pliable - plop him down and he stays there. The rest of the litter, there are 2 black kitties that are twins, I named them Tyrone and Tyrese (lol), then there is Isis who is a diva and the alpha female - she wears a leopard-spotted collar and thinks she's the shit. Scarface is a kitten who one day had scars under each of his eyes - no one knows what happened. We think he got stuck somewhere and scraped his face or something, the fur is growing back now but he now has street cred and the name Scarface. Then there is Pebbles, who is the runty baby girl, she is tiny and always cold and just wants to be held and cuddled like a baby. @ the poster with the well-behaved man kitty, my older, Zeus, is like that (the 8 yr old). He was always very serious and protective of us, he seems to "worry" when we leave the house for any reason. When he reached like 6 or 7 yrs old he decided to move out and has lived in our garden/porch since then. He comes in whenever he feels like it but soon finds himself meowing at the door to be let out. He won't scratch furniture or soil the floors, he taught himself to go outside. Everyone on my street knows him by name, even neighbors I don't know (probably b/c of his tag), people walk by and greet him and apparently everyone says he has, at least once, picked a fight - and won- with their dogs. He grew out of that, thankfully and now limits himself to our garden and the neighbors. The teenage girl from across the street sits on her driveway to talk to her friends and they play with my cat, who visits them daily. He also visits my other neighbors who began to feed him and play with him as well. He's sweet but whiny and LOUD but relatively well-behaved, very well mannered and chill. It's awesome to get to "meet" your cats, even if virtually. Occam's Razor, morans! |

Quoting: MartianPrincess I have a background in psych so it's fascinating to try to understand how their minds work. Does anyone play "spy kitty"? That's when you make eye contact with the cat and quickly hide out of their sight. Then after a second or two you pop up again, make eye contact again and quickly disappear - cats hate not knowing what's going on so they'll start getting closer to investigate. This is how you can play "green light red light" with them. If you don't know what that is, check out this video: I like making anthropological observations of their behavior. I know this makes me sound like an old crazy cat lady, but I'm really more interested in understanding their behavior. I have noticed that if you whisper to a cat, you'll have its attention, not sure why that is. It has to be a loud whisper, but they seem to be intrigued by the sound. I've also noticed that cats like peer pressure.... I know it sounds crazy but it's true and I'd like to ask some of you with multiple cats to try it and let me know what your findings are. A stray cat we had temporarily taken in had a litter of 7 kittens which are now 2 months old and I hand-raised, so I get to observe all kinds of kitten mischief and cat culture. I have noticed that if you egg a cat on, they'll totally go for it.. say kitty spots a ball of yarn on the ground and is contemplating getting it, if you sit and pressure him by saying "do it, kitty", "go get it, kitty", "come on, kitty", "do it kitty, do it!" they will almost always immediately act on it. I first noticed this with my old cat Zeus, and I have noticed it as well with these kittens. Also, if they're feeling particularly playful and pouncey, and cat A walks by cat B and I tell cat B "go get him kitty", he'll do it about 75% of the time. I'd like to know if anyone else has tried this and if it worked. I'd love to hear any other observations or anecdotes from fellow cat observers, please feel free to share! I love the red-light green-light video. That's funny. Yes one of my top skills is winning the staring contest. My cat Mollie just can't bring it like I can. Ours also enjoy an evening with the laser pointer. |
