Discouraged after move to Tampa, Florida. Need creative job.

I have lived in FL all of my life and I am neither a redneck or stupid. It's a good place. Anywhere is what you make it. One can be happy anywhere.

I will neither run nor be afraid of any WWIII. I am blooming where I am planted. I'll bet most of the people who have made negative comments about this state have never lived here or even visited here.

I hope you find a job that you like. I will keep my ears open for you.

I was brought here with a higher purpose - but I'm still wanting to learn what that was exactly. All spiritual roads led me here.

I had a pretty great job in my former state FAR out west. But since being here I haven't felt like I'm even on the trail of anything...it took nearly everything I had to get here and now I'm getting beat down by my own desire to succeed, but being aimless about it.

Anyone in the area know of creative work that's available that may/may not be posted somewhere on the interwebz? I have an amazing woman I want to take care of who has a great job, but she's ready to leave and we've been talking about having a baby in the future. I want to make that happen...

I'm literally humbled by the entire experience. I've only been here a week-and-a-half, but it feels like an eternity because I want somewhere to put all of my waning energies.

Please, GLP...find a way to guide me - positively. I'm already in the dumps enough today.

I went to Tampa Craigslist/ community and found a posting about a monthly Art and Soul Festival. Check that out, meet up with like-minded people. Lots of other interesting (creative minded) ads. Then I looked at jobs available in art/media/design ant there were plenty.
When you lose confidence, and fear creeps in to the inner sanctuary, you begin to subconsciously repulse opportunities. When within you are still, and you allow yourself to feel expansive, happy free and abundant regardless of your external seeming limitations, opportunities will present themselves like magic. It's like we are always chanting a mantra whether we are aware of it or not. Yours might be 'shit shit shit I need a job! Make a conscious mantra and chant it within- like 'Every day, in every way, I enjoy abundant creative work for abundant pay'

I've lived in the Tampa area for most of my life. I love it here and never had an issue finding work. Currently I work in a call center, but I do freelance cinematography on the side. If you're looking for creative work, I'd check the creative section on Craigslist. I'm sure you'll find something that fits your skill set there.

No. This is about the 500th thread ive seen complaining about no jobs.

About 90% of the time the person has already turned their nose up at multiple possibilities because they have some self righteous attitude like a preteen snot nose girl.

The reason you cant find a job is because you are lazy and unwilling to work. The actual job should make no difference.

if you have 8-15k in liquidity, you can buy the cooksey bible of wrist and pocket watches, learn it inside and out, use gooogle, go to ebai and filter out antique patek and rolex only and you will find amazing deals. right now, for a 26k investment, you can buy a rolex 6062 triple date moonphase in an 18k gold case with black dial, call up christies-or more easily antiquorum, send it in for the next auction in december i believe, and collect your 200-450k. it is that easy. there are deals like that every day. suppliments my income juuuuust fiiine. just gooogle christies and rolex 6062---you'll see. antiques, not new, because much, much less chance at fakes. always make sure it is hand wind or automatic WITH VERIFIABLE SERIAL NUMBERS!

The Smoke House meetings sound like a good start. If that does not go anywhere why not go to some of the artsy or "Society" get-togethers and go from there. Or maybe get to know a variety of people that work at or run things from Museums, Nightclubs, National Parks or Bach Tower and perhaps they can help. Try asking on City Data or run a cheap ad in CL, the newspaper or Back Page for hints but do not give money. If you get to the end of your rope make a weird Youtube video asking for help. That seems to have worked for some but I would think twice about putting one on for future backfire/regret. I know some of these may not make sense but I wish you luck and wish I could help.

I could tell you where to get a job very quickly that makes very good money but I can already tell you wouldn't follow up on it. There'd be some excuse.

Well, now. THAT was constructive.

I'm more of a writer. I did copywriting in my old hometown and made decent money.

But I also do visual art as well, but have never made the transition over to the computer (do it by hand).

I'm a versatile writer, though.

I travel to Tampa/St. Pete or Naples just about every week....

If you could get a job as a valet at any of the higher-end hotels... those guys make big big bucks. Shocking the pockets of cash they take home. $300-$400 on a good day... slow day, $150. Tax free.

Maybe you didn't see what I wrote earlier - I HAD A GREAT JOB THAT I LEFT BEFORE COMING HERE.

Suggest you take any job available as many have. You made the choice. The love of your life is ready to leave you because of unemployment??? Plus, you've discussed children..what is wrong with this picture. Better learn the computer end on graphics or you're at the end of potential jobs. Go back for more education ASAP!
