User ID: 15256858 United States 09/12/2013 05:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was brought here with a higher purpose - but I'm still wanting to learn what that was exactly. All spiritual roads led me here. Quoting: ElectricKoolaid I had a pretty great job in my former state FAR out west. But since being here I haven't felt like I'm even on the trail of anything...it took nearly everything I had to get here and now I'm getting beat down by my own desire to succeed, but being aimless about it. Anyone in the area know of creative work that's available that may/may not be posted somewhere on the interwebz? I have an amazing woman I want to take care of who has a great job, but she's ready to leave and we've been talking about having a baby in the future. I want to make that happen... I'm literally humbled by the entire experience. I've only been here a week-and-a-half, but it feels like an eternity because I want somewhere to put all of my waning energies. Please, GLP...find a way to guide me - positively. I'm already in the dumps enough today. Thanks. I was born and raised in Tampa, Fl. I lived there 50 years and then moved away. Its too bad you moved there. Leave while you still can. You would have been better out west than there. When disaster strikes you will not be able to get out of Florida ...you will be trapped. Don't be seduced by the beaches and the palm trees and year around warm weather. You won't have a future anywhere in Florida. Sorry to have to tell you that but you had better put all those energies into getting out of there and now is not time to even be thinking about having a baby. Don't you realize that we are at the precipice of WW3. It ti going to become hell on earth and down hill from here. You had better think about surviving instead of dreaming. As far as being in the dumps.......get over it and focus all your attention and energy into packing up and moving out fast. Better listen to your "amazing woman" who wants to leave. Apparently she is smarter than you are. Best wishes and best of luck. Now get on the stick, shake a leg and boogie out of Florida. As insulting as you were, I'm still going to address this. #1 - "When disaster strikes...precipice of WW3": been hearing this my entire life. Especially lately. And while it may/may not be true, that's not an option for us immediately. I'm speaking of IMMEDIATE fixes. Within a year or so we'd love to move out of here...we've already been talking about it. Telling me "it will be too late!" won't help either. Timelines are a twisted reality...haven't you been on GLP enough to figure that out by now? Every bit of doom is right around the corner...but keeps getting pushed to the next meeting. #2 - I'm a prepper and very survival-minded. Very. I'm prepared in every sense of the word already. But I still need to earn a living and want to build a life with the idea that the world will continue on. I'm not going to live the greater part of my life expecting doom at any moment. I prefer to prepare but still have the optimism in me to believe life will find a way of continuing on... #3 - You don't need to put quotes around amazing woman. She is amazing. And I'm also intelligent enough to know when someone is being a condescending jerk. I don't know why you had to go that route, especially when I've already indicated being discouraged...'ppreciate ya! You found that insulting??????????? Really??????????? Well I'll be darned. No insult was intended. Just remember..............there are only two or three main freeways out of Florida and only one direction to go (north). Be first and ahead of the line. |

I noticed something then, and I can tell you right now that many law firms do not have websites. Those that do have sites that are not working for them. You could specialize in legal websites and also keep their servers up and running, set up their new computers and install all the software they use.. there are tons of law offices there and this could be a niche. Take photos, create a monthly blog for each lawyer and offer SEO services as well... Maybe you CAN ALSO get a gig on the weekends being a DJ or something else in a creative vein. Buy a guitar and play some music, get some voice lessons and some rock n roll clothes bought in Ybor City and get a gig! :) Last Edited by Arcano Artis Angeli on 09/12/2013 05:34 PM |

They have a great variety of jobs that may suite you & also a decent company to work for as well. Cheers & good luck! Anonymous Coward User ID: 46423545 United States 09/12/2013 05:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sorry OP Quoting: Anonymous Coward 45599711 but can't imagine living anywhere in Florida , really. Most of it is a major shit hole. If you are not rich enough to live in the really nice areas the rest is shit. Why did you move there in the first place?? Go back home or find a nice rural place. Sell your car , ride a bike where you need to go and downsize. This is what I recommend. Get the heck out of there. When the 2nd Great Depression hits, it will be much much worse than the first...look at society!! Get out of there I have to agree. I moved down here some years ago and hate it here. Everything about this state is horrible. Heat, humidity, bugs, and like the AC said, unless you got the bucks to live in the nicer places, it's just a shithole. People have these dreams of moving to Florida, only to quickly learn once getting here that it's nothing like the margaritas, Jimmy Buffet and Mickey Mouse like they all dreamed of. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 46725787 United States 09/12/2013 05:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Go Apply at Mortgage Investors Corporation AKA MIC. It's really just a glorified Telemarketing firm where you're on the phones cold calling potential customers to refinance their mortgage, but it pays ok and you get commission on every sale you make that goes through. They have one in Tampa and St Pete, the St pete location is better. I moved to St pete from out west for a while, loved St Pete, beautiful place but the jobs sucked and people drive like maniacs, i would love to move back and buy a house around treasure island but realized one must have lots of money to live comfortably in that area. Live and learn and enjoy Tampa Bay but i have a feeling youre gonna be just like me and are going to leave sooner than you think. |

Is to soon to feel that way....give yourself a chance to know around you places and people, about money is like every where you can find anything and anybody. Read about some locals giving you good paces to check...I live Orlando and I love it. Your spiritual self will go with you wherever you go, nobody can take it away only if you allow it. Bless you, good luck , be positive...Maybe making a phortafholio and taking it to the parks..you know ,send it..just an idea. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 45025326 how's that for your eccentric opportunity? i must add---you can find these deals because some people don't know what they have when selling, while those with bank don't usually shop ebai. they go to hi end auction houses. I will neither run nor be afraid of any WWIII. I am blooming where I am planted. I'll bet most of the people who have made negative comments about this state have never lived here or even visited here. I hope you find a job that you like. I will keep my ears open for you. Shalom. Anonymous Coward User ID: 337799 United States 09/12/2013 06:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I spent the last year and a half getting out of FL, was there almost 15 years and each year it became harder and harder to leave. The place saps you slowly and it's like sinking very slowly in quicksand. Job conditions are way worse there than some places out west. Family couldn't be happier now with less humidity and there's lots of help wanted signs all over here. Your efforts are probably better spent starting to plan for exit now because it might take a while. I believe the 2000ft was mentioned because of the Earth changes that are happening, not ww3, that's a whole other problem. Just because the changes that are coming hasn't happened in any of our lifetimes doesn't mean it can't happen nor that it hasn't happened in the past. Look what happened to Japan. Never thought I'd see something like that but it happened. Even if just the economy breaks down then what? You'll have hordes and hordes travelling north and that's the only way out. GL and hope you find your purpose for being there. |

I travel to Tampa/St. Pete or Naples just about every week.... If you could get a job as a valet at any of the higher-end hotels... those guys make big big bucks. Shocking the pockets of cash they take home. $300-$400 on a good day... slow day, $150. Tax free. That's a really great idea, I'm going to pass that on to some folks I know myself. Thanks! |

I was a Stain glass artist, You could open a studio. The ones around here do well, some jobs for windows paid $10,000 to $20,000 cooked for a while, retired now. There's always restaurant work, find a partner buy a restaurant. Gotta have a gimmick. Charter fishing boat. Buy and sell cars from gov, auctions. I know one guy made a million, selling fish from a truck. He had a small piece of land, a closed gas station was on it. He gutted out truck, filled it with refrigerators cutting boards, ect. He only opened on weekends, He'd advertise Live Maine Lobster. You got the impression he drove to Maine every week and back with fresh fish, clams, lobsters, etc.. Actually he had then shipped by train. He worked on a reputation, people were lining up. He was a millionaire last time I saw him. Being creative,, He also said he worked his ass off. It takes a while to get plugged in there but don't give up before the miracle happens, go to burger21 in Westchase and relax for a while. They have the best burgers around and the atmosphere in Westchase is pretty laid back and relaxed. Create a plan and make your experience there what you want it to be, no one can or will do it for you, and most of all enjoy the fall and winter. p.s. go to Naples for lunch sometimes, it's wonderful. |
