Hi OP.
I met my wife here a few years back. I moved here in 2004 from the mid-northern states. We enjoy it. I live right in Tampa by USF.
I have seen the ups and downs but its coming back believe it or not. Have faith and keep your chin up.
It's a great place..hf

With all the lightening Tampa is one of the most demonic places in the world. God moved you there to offset the enemy.

Get a lawn mower, place an ad in the local grocery store paper (Cheap to advertise) do lawn care. You are an artist, use that skill on people's yards.

Sounds like you need to give it a bit more time.

Imagine what you want, visualize it, stay positive, often things come to you in that way :)

GOOD LUCK!

I love St Augustine Fl.
Lots of creative things here. I was a Stain glass artist,
You could open a studio. The ones around here do well, some jobs for windows paid $10,000 to $20,000
cooked for a while, retired now. There's always restaurant work, find a partner buy a restaurant. Gotta have a gimmick.
Charter fishing boat. Buy and sell cars from gov, auctions.

I know one guy made a million, selling fish from a truck. He had a small piece of land, a closed gas station was on it. He gutted out truck, filled it with refrigerators cutting boards, ect. He only opened on weekends, He'd advertise Live Maine Lobster. You got the impression he drove to Maine every week and back with fresh fish, clams, lobsters, etc..
Actually he had then shipped by train.
He worked on a reputation, people were lining up. He was a millionaire last time I saw him.
Being creative,, He also said he worked his ass off.

I'm staying here. Actually in a nice area outside of Tampa.

Now you're talking my language! :) I believe that...it's just everything has been clicking for me since I had a spiritual Awakening in March...but it hasn't been after getting here. Which is where I "needed to be". It will come, right? I know I'm meant to be here.

My first few experiences here, oddly enough, were that I'd seen the people/places before. I can't tell you how many times I've met people here that I find myself going, "I know this person from somewhere..." Not in a spiritual sense, but in a literal, physical sense. I've SEEN them before. Happened more than half-a-dozen times already. Thank you!

Lots of colleges in the area...how about offering a paper editing service or tap in to that resource of students. Good luck

I've seen on craigslist that quite a few people are asking for help writing papers...I could definitely do that. I wrote all of my brother's papers (or rewrote them) while he was in high school and college. So why not? Great idea.

That sounds more like something to do part time. I don't know man. I live close and Tampa is the least likely place I would ever want to start over at.
Nice to visit Clearwater though right across the bridge.

Palm Harbor is nice. Right up the "screet" from where I am. A few miles from the Pinellas line. Pinellas and Clearwater in particular is pretty and less congested. I go over there when I want to "get away". Also, I'm a 'thrifter' and there is a lot to work from over in that area.

Ever been to Safety Harbor? I love it there. It's like a "Pleasantville", a world of its own. Not even a grocery store in that town. It's like it's being saved from the world.

Safety Harbor (con't) heh. They have all kinds of activities there - artsy, little concerts and they have a calendar someone makes up with the activities for the month - even have a little produce stand by the pavillion. I struck up a conversation while there with a woman and she gave me one last year. (You didn't answer whether you had been there or not - so I'm just going on and on. Heh.)

Also, don't miss the little Greek restaurant on the main drag. Real Greeks and real Greek food. The dad/owner is the best cook of them all - makes an awesome Greek omelet with feta cheese, of course, spinach, tomatoes, onions, etc.

Ya' never can tell where you might meet the right connection, while enjoying oneself at the same time. Maybe your girlfriend knows of this little laid back place.

Peace.

I was brought here with a higher purpose - but I'm still wanting to learn what that was exactly. All spiritual roads led me here.

I had a pretty great job in my former state FAR out west. But since being here I haven't felt like I'm even on the trail of anything...it took nearly everything I had to get here and now I'm getting beat down by my own desire to succeed, but being aimless about it.

Anyone in the area know of creative work that's available that may/may not be posted somewhere on the interwebz? I have an amazing woman I want to take care of who has a great job, but she's ready to leave and we've been talking about having a baby in the future. I want to make that happen...

I'm literally humbled by the entire experience. I've only been here a week-and-a-half, but it feels like an eternity because I want somewhere to put all of my waning energies.

Please, GLP...find a way to guide me - positively. I'm already in the dumps enough today.

Thanks.

I was born and raised in Tampa, Fl. I lived there 50 years and then moved away. Its too bad you moved there. Leave while you still can. You would have been better out west than there. When disaster strikes you will not be able to get out of Florida ...you will be trapped. Don't be seduced by the beaches and the palm trees and year around warm weather. You won't have a future anywhere in Florida.

Sorry to have to tell you that but you had better put all those energies into getting out of there and now is not time to even be thinking about having a baby.

Don't you realize that we are at the precipice of WW3. It ti going to become hell on earth and down hill from here.

You had better think about surviving instead of dreaming.

As far as being in the dumps.......get over it and focus all your attention and energy into packing up and moving out fast.

Better listen to your "amazing woman" who wants to leave. Apparently she is smarter than you are.

Best wishes and best of luck. Now get on the stick, shake a leg and boogie out of Florida.

As insulting as you were, I'm still going to address this.

#1 - "When disaster strikes...precipice of WW3": been hearing this my entire life. Especially lately. And while it may/may not be true, that's not an option for us immediately. I'm speaking of IMMEDIATE fixes. Within a year or so we'd love to move out of here...we've already been talking about it. Telling me "it will be too late!" won't help either. Timelines are a twisted reality...haven't you been on GLP enough to figure that out by now? Every bit of doom is right around the corner...but keeps getting pushed to the next meeting.

#2 - I'm a prepper and very survival-minded. Very. I'm prepared in every sense of the word already. But I still need to earn a living and want to build a life with the idea that the world will continue on. I'm not going to live the greater part of my life expecting doom at any moment. I prefer to prepare but still have the optimism in me to believe life will find a way of continuing on...

#3 - You don't need to put quotes around amazing woman. She is amazing. And I'm also intelligent enough to know when someone is being a condescending jerk. I don't know why you had to go that route, especially when I've already indicated being discouraged...'ppreciate ya!
 Quoting: ElectricKoolaid

I am an old married guy. Married 15 years, no divorce, raising kids. I'm no ladies' man but I have some sense of relationships apparently.

And I know that feeling of young or early love, it lasts a year or two typically for a guy, maybe up until the woman threatens divorce around year 7 ...

And the woman who put quotes around "amazing woman" is more objective in some way than you are. You have not yet learned the character flaws of women. But one of them is staring you in the face.

That flaw is that your "amazing woman", after a week and a half of your not providing her an income, is ready to leave you.

Think about that. Repeat it to yourself 10 times in a row. It's not an unfair statement. It is the truth.

I would advise you to read some "red pill" "pua" "mgtow" sort of sites. Maybe this happened to you with your ex. Shit like that happens to guys all the time. Not saying all girls are like that, but the woman who responded to you probably saw that and knew the type, because women know women. That's why they aren't so impressed by each other.

Don't be a slave to your ex, and don't panic because of her. The most important thing you can do is to tell her that she's free to leave because you don't have money, but then you never want to see or hear from her again. Like a divorce, thankfully before she too can demand money from you.

As for Tampa, I have no specific knowledge. I used to think it would be the best place in the world to live and wished I had had a chance to live there. If you like it there, stay! And good luck finding a job that works for you. Not you and her, just you. If she wants money, she can find a job and you can both chip in on expenses so you can be together.

I meant "don't be a slave to your new gf" not "don't be a slave to your ex". Though they're both good advice. Acting slavelike to a woman is never right. It will always hurt you and will not get you what you want from her.

In this case it will not get your new gf to stick around, which you so desperately want. She will only stick around if she's attracted to you. If she's never attracted to you but marries you because you will provide for her, you are looking at a miserable life and a future divorce. Best to flush that sort away asap.

I appreciate the time you took to respond but you didn't even understand my post whatsoever. Never said shit about her leaving me. Ever. The only pressure I'm feeling is coming from ME. And your take on "women" (putting quotes around that because you didn't likely date/marry a real woman) is negative...so I have to dismiss it as either a bad experience or a series of poor choices.

I'm more of a writer. I did copywriting in my old hometown and made decent money.

But I also do visual art as well, but have never made the transition over to the computer (do it by hand).

I'm a versatile writer, though.

What are your skills? By that I mean, make a list from 1 to 12, where your most expertise skill is 1, to your least expertise skill is 12.

Re: Discouraged after move to Tampa, Florida. Need creative job.
I was transferred to the area in '08 from Madison, WI and enjoyed it at first since we were very avid boaters and lived in Terra Ceia. Seemed like paradise. As time went on the honeymoon waned and we slowly started to hate FL. It is a miserably hot and stinky place where the middle class is diminishing at a much faster rate than anywhere else, pay sucks, crime is rampant, empty houses rot in the humidity, there are more closed storefronts than open ones, junk cars are all over like a disease on the highways... You will find this to be true after a few years at the most. We lasted for 3.5 years. Moving to Austin was like a night and day change - almost like moving back to the "old" US from a Third World country. We've been very happy here for 3 years now.

Nope. I live in Florida, make a great living, have a home in an orange grove, kids that ride dirt bikes, don't smoke, don't do drugs and don't have sex, and an air conditioner. So, Florida works for me, and I wanted to see if OP had some skills that I could use.
