Re: Navy CMDR Tim Jirus ---- COWARDLY left a wounded Civilian to die at the Navy Yard
Your own post said the CMDR didn't know where the shots were coming from but he knew the civilian was dead.

I'm not making excuses for the man but it doesn't make sense for him to render aid to someone with half a head.

The doctor stated on Live TV interview with CNN that the man died "enroute" to the hospital.

Tim Jirus was standing next to a man that just got shot, ran from the shooter, climbed a 20 foot fence and never broke a sweat or got any brain matter on his pristene uniform. He also joked about the base being "safe" that day.

Tim Jirus stood 3 feet away from a man who was shot in the head, ran away from the shooter, climbed a 20 foot fence, and did not get any blood on him nor did he break a sweat. He did not even drop his hat when he ran and jumped the 20 foot fence.

I'm disgusted by what I see wrote here. This commander was caught off guard, he was not in battle context. He did what anyone would do.

I hope you all pay for the horrible, nasty comments you have written. This man has just been through something horrible and I expect a little more sympath from my fellow Americans.

Your words kill and condem and not a one you should be throwing stones at a time like this. You are an embarrassment to yourselves and to humanity.

You misread the account. Go back and read it again. The man he was talking to was shot in the head as they were talking. He already knew the man was dead, so he ran. He was unarmed. What else could he have done?

He left a Civilian in Harms way. He thought the man was dead, He was not for sure, so This NAVY COMMANDER Bolted to his own personal safety, leaving a wounded Civilian

Re: Navy CMDR Tim Jirus ---- COWARDLY left a wounded Civilian to die at the Navy Yard
I was shocked when I heard the Commanders account of what happened. Usually trained fighting men (and women) run toward the threat. It's almost instinctive. Cmdr Jirus's only training is probably sexual harassment in the work place or proper TPS report procedures. I cant believe this pussy wears an officers uniform. I heard him correctly. He said'"Once I realized there was an active shooter, I ran out the back and climbed a wall, then I waited with my co workers".
No one here is tarnishing Jirus's rep. He did that all by himself!!
What a worthless COWARD!!!

According to Jirus's LinkedIn account he's an Industrial Hygiene Officer. So he's basically a glorified toilet plunger. What more would you expect for his 15 minutes of fame. He's no hero, that's for sure!!
I'm sure if there were turds needed to be unstuck, Jirus would've been the man to call!

Ha Ha Ha He's still a coward!

you realize just because someone is in the military doesn't automatically mean they are a warrior, navy and air force have non combat roles. I didn't even touch a real weapon until I got to the air force equivalent of AIT. In fact they've briefed us multiple times that in the event of an active shooter you run, hide, and try to call security forces. The Navy is probably the same.

OP is an idiot.

When someone starts shooting at you from a distance and you have no idea where it's coming from it's completely retarded to do anything other than take cover. OP would do the same and is a goddamned hypocrite.

OP sounds like a 11 year old who watches too much GI Joe and thinks the bad guys shoot red lasers and the good guys shoot blue lasers and no one ever actually gets shot.

Re: Navy CMDR Tim Jirus ---- COWARDLY left a wounded Civilian to die at the Navy Yard
Knowing this Commander personally... No one knows how they will react in a situation exactly like this. Some of you, thank you for realizing that. As for the person that started this thread... Really? If you follow all the stories from all media outlets, it captures bits and pieces. The main point was he was talking to a colleague and heard 2 "cap gun" like shots and then turned back around and saw the guy was shot in the head. One media outlet says that he actually saw the shooter at a distance. Another media outlet is saying that the shots came from above the building... So until all the facts are in place, quit judging. How do you know his hat didn't fall off? How do you know he wasn't sweating? The interview was well after the fact. You were not there! Bottom line. As far as the comments about him not being shook up in interview... He was! That was not him at all. How would you know? Do you know him personally? Defamation of character... 100% agree. It goes beyond that though. 12 people died and you are focused on hear say. oops2oops2oops2
