The candle heats the air in the simple case. The candle heats the pot which heats the air. In either case the max heat is a candle which does not provide much heat. All goes back to the "no such thing as a free lunch" |

I'd be willing to bet you that if you did an ambient temperature test with just a candle in the room and then with this space heater you'd find the room with the space heater would be warmer. |

You aren't going to keep your pipes from freezing with a candle. If you live in an area that is prone to cold temperature extremes, then you should already have a wood stove or fireplace etc. If not, move. |

I like burning candles in the cool months and they do put off quiet a bit of heat.I have found that putting the candle shades and globes they now sell that sets down on top of the jar really adds heat. Also even the little votive sized will give off more heat placed down inside a glass or metal holder since it heats the holder. |

If you drive in your car in the winter it is always a good advice to have some waxine lights in your car. When the engine stops for some reason 1 or 2 waxinelights can heat up the car interior. imagine you have to wait for hours in your car while it's freezing outside, then you are happy with the waxine lights. |

What the pots do is trap some of the heat nearer the floor as well as store heat in the thermal mass of the pots and metal and bricks, putting a heat-radiative object closer to where people actually live. Without the pots and bricks, the heat would all float right up to the ceiling, where it wouldn't do much for anyone except Spider-man. |

They usually only have a place to hold one tea-lite candle, but you can adapt them by cutting a cardboard square to fit the interior of the candle holder and covering it with aluminum foil. Place the square inside the candle holder and it gives enough flat space to place 6-8 tea-lite candles instead of one. When the candles burn, they heat up the cast iron exterior and generate a fair amount of heat. If one per room is not sufficient, you can use more (depending on the size of the room). I have cats, so the cast iron exterior has the advantage of being too heavy for a cat to knock over. Tea-lites are cheap and burn about 4 hours. Due to their small size you can store a lot of them in a small space. I've had the opportunity to use them a few times when the power went out for a day or so during the winter and they were pretty adequate. They keep a room fairly warm....not toasty, but livable. It's a good source of heat for people who live in apartments and don't have the option of installing wood stoves or using propane heaters (with no place to store propane tanks). As for cooking, a cast iron Hibachi grill (about $50.00 at Wal-Mart) and sterno will cook a meal just as easily and quickly as a stove. It is also a good source of heat. |

Thanx for posting the vid for making the heater. FYI igmos, with just a burning candle, all the heat from the flame goes DIRECTLY TO THE CEILING and INTO THE ATTIC! This heater stops the heat from escaping the room thru the ceiling and radiates it at throughout the room instead of all the heat going up thru the ceiling. |

Meaning a raw candle will not put out as much heat in comparison to the mentioned device. The candle does pump out more unburnt fuel versus a fire with a vortex chamber to thoroughly burn all the fuel. |

And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it. I am an evil giraffe, and I shall eat more leaves from this tree than perhaps I should, so that other giraffes may die. |
