Attention Masons! Help me understand this conversation and a private tour of the lodge.
I posted this in another thread that was related to the topic but not the focus of the thread.
Only a few acknowledged it, and none of those were helpful.
I had not thought about this conversation until a few nights ago, and now I am curious. I think the guy was just trying to blow smoke up my arse.

Several years ago, I was having a conversation with a man, who was a Mason, Scottish Rite.

He and I were discussing genealogy. He is related (distant) by marriage some where along the lines on my maternal side. He had some information he was willing to share with me to fill in some gaps in my information about said relative.

At some point in the conversation him being Scottish Rite/mason was mentioned, as well as Rosslyn Chapel. I expressed my desire to visit the Chapel someday, Ireland, and The Colonsey Islands as well because that's where my paternal line traced back to.

Actually I can go back farther than that now, but at the time, that's where I was in my research.

He then said to me, " There will come a time when you will need to have friends who are Masons. And as for Rosslyn Chapel, you very well may see it someday. You might get there in a very unexpected way, but you will.

I don't know how one relates to the other or if he was just full of horse shat.

I have yet to "understand" what he meant by his comment. If someone has a clue/hint. Please enlighten me.

His son was married to a good friend of mine. He was/is Mason as well. I was talking to him about it and he just laughed and blew me off.

I always gave him (the son) a hard time about being a Mason. All the secret stuff and all made me very curious! One day his wife (my friend) calls and says, hey meet us at the lodge (he) has permission to take us on a tour! Of course I jumped in my car and met them there. She and I got our private tour.......so many things I could ask about there. :) He didn't elaborate and I am sure none of you will either.

2 1/2 year old article, but still interesting...

Rosslyn Chapel – the 12 great mysteries

'Rosslyn Chapel has presented another mystery as builders discovered a 600-year-old bee hive built into the stones. The 15th Century Midlothian chapel is undergoing a £13million preservation exercise at the moment....

....Is Rosslyn Chapel the resting place of the Holy Grail? Dan Brown’s book Da Vinci Code suggests that the ultimate of all holy icons is hidden in the church. The Holy Grail was possibly one of the things carried by the Knights Templar when they fled France for Scotland....

....What is the chapel’s link with Freemasons? Apparently Sir William St Clair claimed patronage of the masons – a link passed and strengthened through the generations and evidenced in two seventeenth century charters. In 1736, Sir William Sinclair became the first Scottish Grand Master at the Grand Lodge of Scotland in Edinburgh. By the 1690s, the bond between the Sinclairs and the masons was commented in a celebrated letter....

....What’s hidden in the vaults? Mythology suggests that the Sinclair family hid ancient Templar and Masonic artefacts and documents in the vaults. This may include the Holy Grail....

....What’s the meaning of carvings of American plants that predate Columbus’ discovery of America? Exotic plants featured in the chapel’s carving include maize and aloe vera. One theory is that some of the masons who carved the chapel were descended from Vikings....'

Nothing really. :(
I asked him what that was supposed to mean.
His response was, not to ask so many questions and to always remember what he said. :/

I tried several other times to get him to explain that to me and he always blew me off, so I just thought he was talking out his butt.
So, I had just forgotten about the whole conversation it until recently.

I appreciate your reply. I will look into that. Oh, and btw, I am a lady. :)
Which is another reason i find it odd i was allowed to "tour" the lodge. Especially since as far as I know I have no one closely related to be that is part of the Masons.

Re: Attention Masons! Help me understand this conversation and a private tour of the lodge.
You're reading too much into it, in my opinion.

It's like if I said to you, "oh, things all happen for a reason", and then you badger me endlessly because you assume I'm keeping the reason from you, and you build it up in your head to be something very esoteric.

He just said life has a way of doing things in an odd way. Honestly, we have to all accept that there's no special drama, and go out and create a life that's worthy of being talked about by our descendants.

As far as having a friend who's a mason, anyone could tell you that. As this so-called "New Order" is ushered in, those people who are connected to the inner circle will always have perks that the outsiders do not. He's telling you to align yourself accordingly.

You might be just looking for some dramatic hidden truth, but the outward reality is what you need to deal with.

Just one viewpoint.
