Voodoo Child!

But I have to say...The Sky is Crying pulls me in like no other.

I only discovered SRV after he was gone, but have been a fan for years.

If you are going to the ride and concert, be sure to pick up a few raffle tickets for the SRV guitar replica. A friend of mine made it. Nice axe! Looks identical to the one in the Cold Shot (live) video you posted.

Enjoy the weekend and happy birthday!

So happy to say that I was fortunate enough to have seen him in concert. I'm from Shreveport Louisiana and it just so happened that he came to town to play of all things a free concert put on by a local radio station. Must have played close to 2 hours and you could tell that he was doing it for the people in more ways then one and we were just lucky enough to witness his gift.

I know a guy up in Dallas that plays that from time to time and doesn't miss a lick!

He builds and repairs guitars for a living now, still playing on the weekends from time to time.

SRV was his inspiration. And still is, I think, and turned me on to SRV a couple of decades ago. Awesome stuff!

cheers

My father grew up in Oak Cliff and was actually neighbors.

Him and Stevie were friends and learned to play guitar together. He was also in a few early bands with each of them.

After graduating high school, though, my father and my mother got married and moved to a po-dunk town near Oklahoma.

Years later, they turned on the radio and lo and behold...there was Stevie. =-)

At the time of the helicopter crash, my father had been trying to get back in touch. =-(

Re: It's about time for serious Stevie Ray Vaughan. UPDATED ON PAGE TWO.
out of the concerts i have watched this one is my favorite mainly because of what he says near the end that is so touching.

as best i can tell he says.....

i'd like to talk to u for a second if i can
i'd like to start off with thanking God i am alive and well enough to be here with u tonight
u know
this is a big world and there are a lot of things we need to be taking care of
because all i know is that we r supposed to take care of each other the best we can
and it seems to me
that to be able to take care of each other first we must take care of ourselves
not too long ago i was a victim of not taking care of myself
it's a dead end street
and what i'm talking about is drugs
there a dead end street
they kill u
they r a big lie
see what they do is take away the love
they make u not care about yourself so u don't know if somebody else cares about u at the same time
so if u remember nothing else about today
remember to help yourself so u CAN help your brothers and sisters.
u know
let's get some love back around here, ok.

he speaks it during the last song kind of like a sermon perfectly surrounded with his music. 39:23 mark. enjoy

Yes, I am very aware of this. He said it after his song "Life without you". That song helped me grieve the loss of my husband some time ago from a long term illness. Thank you for posting it.

yes, that concert has helped me through a rough time also. the spirit of his redemptive life inspires me. he had been very close to killing himself with drug use and alcohol when he received a calling that put the fear in him. it is a beautiful story the way he turned around.

then the way he came back and loved life without the drugs is wonderful indeed. and he shared his story as often as given the opportunity in hopes of helping others. he became a man with a mission to offer what he found to others.

thank you for the thread. i am very sorry for your loss. it is good to hear you are still appreciating the beauty in people where it can be found.

he might have been great, and has soul. However that soul had a contract with a deal that was made as so many of rocks big performers, they are part of an occult luciferian sub culture. fame, adoration, money, sex, drugs for x amount of years on earth. Clapton was suppoed to die in that crash but he was able to re-structure his contract with the devil and buy himself some more earth time.

Stevie ray is part of the Aleister Crowley bloodline his music they have no true happiness as they are to work un-heard of hours 80 plus per week touring, in the studios promoting and are mere slaves, when asked bob dylan, what keeps you going all these years, his reply i made a deal just keeping up my end of the bergin, don't keep up your end, you die.

Just have to google, the music is a programming device to alter the masses consciousness.
