User ID: 43996128 United States 10/04/2013 01:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Woman Shoots Gun Crazy Husband To Save Cops - Ruled Justified Homicide - No Charges - Indiana On September 27th, officers arrived at the Roberts' Hancock County home where Gary Roberts had barricaded himself inside with his wife. He apparently had a vast arsenal of fully automatic weapons - a collection worth an estimated $1 million, including numerous assault weapons and a military grade .50 caliber machine gun. Elizabeth Roberts was concerned about her husband's state of mind and wanted the sheriff to bring him in for a mental evaluation. When the sheriff's department still hadn't arrived after half an hour, she explained to her husband that she had called them. Gary Roberts allegedly threatened to kill as many officers as he could when they arrived, and he also called a friend to say the same thing. Griffin wrote: "Elizabeth wanted to save lives, so if saving lives meant shooting the man she loved, a man already determined to die in a confrontation with law enforcement, she was prepared to do it. Elizabeth was left with one of the very worst prospects imaginable - killing her spouse. Under Indiana law, Elizabeth committed a justified homicide, meaning that while it was an intentional killing, it was justified by being done in the defense of others, and Indiana law states that she should not be charged with a crime. Elizabeth Roberts, 56, had contacted police earlier that day about her husband's deteriorating mental condition. Her 57-year-old husband, Gary Roberts, was one of the biggest gun collectors in Hancock County, Derrik Thomas reported. Police were notified about a possible problem at 8:30 a.m. They applied for a search warrant under the Jake Laird law at 11:00 a.m. Officials received another notification at noon that Gary would be hostile to police taking his guns. "He was down there loading magazines after he told her he was going to kill law enforcement, or anyone who tried to stop him," Capt. Jeff Rasche with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department said. The shooting happened at 12:30 p.m. "She admits to shooting him. There's no question there. She tells us that the reason she took the action she did was because the threats he made to law enforcement and she had to stop him. She told him if you don't stop I'm gonna shoot you," Rasche said. As a gun enthusist I'm glad it happend this way, rather then "crazed gun nut kills cops" Whether or not the husband was crazy and a danger to anyone had they not wanted to confinscate his weapons I'd say it probably turned out for the best. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18535219 it is a persons moral responsibility to kill guntards. if someone owns a gun, you can kill them without any retribution from God. Sadly, lots of American states don't let you kill those with guns. Here, if someone has a gun you can kill them it is always self defense. Lesson? Don't own a gun. if you do i will take it from you and shoot you in the head. |
