The 57 million Americans who receive Social Security benefits should know that their benefits will not be affected—unless President Obama and the Treasury deliberately choose not to pay them. User ID: 3753361 United States 10/08/2013 05:59 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I am so disgusted with all this propaganda coming out of Obama this week about the shut down. Now he goes on T.V. to scare our seniors by saying that if the debt ceiling is not raised, they may not get their social security checks and medicare payments. Quoting: LADY ENIGMA What the heck, social security is considered mandatory spending, the same as his new claim to fame "Obamacare". So, why doesn't he go on T.V. and say instead, sorry folks, we don't have any money for Obamacare now, instead of talking about social security? So, will he cut social security payments to seniors and still fund Obamacare? Your thoughts on this? |

Because there won't be any government workers (whose salaries are not considered mandatory spending) to actually process the payments. I love how everybody thinks that all the government facilities and services that THEY enjoy just happen as if by magic. |

These seniors have been paying taxes all their life into this program, along with their employers matching taxes. ENIGMA |

It's about Obamacare, that they would still fund this program that the majority of us don't want, but not fund social security and they are both considered mandatory spending. It's about you can't pick and choose which program you will fund, both being equal. It's about going against the will of the people. It's about taking senior's social security that they have paid into all their life and not pay them, but fund a train wreck health insurance program that requires you, the tax payer, to support millions of other people with free insurance who haven't paid a dime into the program, not to mention a program that's taking all of your medical records, personal and credit information to store it with the NSA data centers. That’s why he has called on Congress to work on a bipartisan basis to preserve Social Security as a reliable source of income for American seniors... FAIL ENIGMA |
