WIC vouchers END in North Carolina, affective TODAY.
And a week ago some said this would never happen... Hmmmmm.

"North Carolina announced Tuesday the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, known as WIC, will not be issuing benefits starting Wednesday. The state said the benefits will stop for now because of the federal government shutdown."

Good. This is not the type of program the federal government should be involved in.

Private charities can handle the funding for this type of program without the federal government creating a another government bureaucracy.

war heating up between the feds and states

NC was one state who opposed Obamacare
and Obamacare's mandates higher premiums
in NC

thus NC closed down WIC as a retaliatory
strike

Was WIC money coming from the Feds? Does that mean that states which don't close down WIC are paying with state money what used to be paid by Feds?

If so, I am surprised more states aren't closing WIC. It's not like you'd really mind if these people went to a different state ...

RALEIGH, NC (WECT/AP) - The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) will not be issuing any more vouchers for clients because of the Federal government program.

The state-run program helps to make sure pregnant women and their young children get the nutrition they need for things like infant formula and healthy food.

Those who already have vouchers will be able to use them, but people who need to renew their vouchers (which happens every 6 months) or those applying for new ones will have to wait.

Trivia: In Medieval times, a pregnant woman could not be imprisoned for stealing food. That would be very troublesome for convenience stores nowadays.
