it's probably because, and this is just a guess, the majority of people on this forum, particularly the american conservative base, do not fit into the demographic you're speaking of. they probably drive newer model cars, live in suburbs, go out to eat regularly to stuff their over-fed bodies, and shop at strip malls.

For the people with nothing, this change means very little to them. What more can they lose but their lives and that is no big deal to them. You could say that they are better off in a way when you consider what is about to happen in the world.
