A new supervolcano is brewing under Massachusetts, Vermont and New HampshireSomething unexpected has been gradually making itself known to geologists in the United States. A huge mass of molten rock is creeping upwards beneath the nation’s north eastern states. “The upwelling we detected is like a hot-air balloon, and we infer that something is rising up through the deeper part of our planet under New England,” says Rutgers University geophysicist Professor Vadim Levin. Traces of the brooding mass only became evident through a large-scale new seismic study. The idea that there may be a super volcano brewing under Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire is something of a surprise. [ link to www.foxnews.com] Quoting: ~Jazz~ Great, now they're calling it a super volcano?! Here's a little snip from a Dec. 7, 2017 article on the subject... “The novelty in our research is an ability to provide an argument for its motion,” he said. “It’s not just hot. We can see that it’s doing something.” He said he and his fellow researchers, his colleague Maureen Long at Yale and three Rutgers and Yale undergraduates, were able to “confirm that the rock was flowing ... and that the motion was vertical.” [ link to www.bostonglobe.com (secure)] Creepy stuff ~*Ride the Wave*~ |

Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Re: Earthquake Thread ~ Always Updated Thanks Arnie! I'll add them to the plan. I got a shit phone call from my doctor's nurse this morning regarding my abdomen ultrasound results, which I was under the impression that they came back not-so-bad. I guess hematologists aren't the best doctors to interpret the results. Since all of the doctors' computer networks are connected and I saw my hematologist shortly after the ultrasound I asked him if he could see the results which he could and didn't seem to think there was much to be concerned about. He actually made me feel a lot better about things.
My primary doctor had ordered the ultrasound and her nurse called this morning to tell me that she wants me to see a surgeon and gastro doctor because I have a lot of gallstones and may need my gallbladder removed. :\
I feel like every time I take a couple steps forward I hit a steep downward hill and slide way back down it. Sometimes I just want to throw in the towel. But that's just not an option. I'm far too stubborn to give up lol.
Quoting: Simple27 I've known several people close to me who have had their gallbladder removed. The surgery is with a laser, so it's very small incision, and they just suck it right out. I don't mean to minimize the situation by saying it that way, but it is an easier surgery than most from how it's been described to me. Of course, surgery is invasive no matter how it's done, so there is some recovery time to it, but all my loved ones who had it removed felt immensely better almost right away, and none have had issues since then. I have heard some people have certain dietary issues after that surgery. I gather certain types of food become harder to digest, but the people I know haven't had that problem at all. Sorry you have to deal with another health issue, you've really had your share. But I take solace in the fact that it's something treatable and hopefully a non-issue afterwards. Hugs to ya! Quoting: KickinIt I went through a lot of emotions very quickly reading through your post. First was kinda scared about the laser and the 'suck it right out' part lol, but relieved to hear it's an easy surgery. I have some research to do and have no clue right now about much to do with gall stones and gallbladder removal. One thing that I've heard was the dietary issues after removal, which made me nervous. I don't really know why, but it just did. Relieved to hear that's not something that happens with everybody. You've given me some anxiety relief and I truly appreciate that. Chances are they want me to have surgery, huh? Why else would they want me to meet with a surgeon? I've never met with a surgeon who didn't end up cutting into me within a week. Ugh. Not ideal and not a good time of year to be having it done with how busy work is. Time for me to put my big girl pants on and just do what needs to be done. It's likely the cause of many symptoms I experience on a daily basis. Wouldn't mind those taking a hike. : ) Much love Kickin! :s27big_hug: ~*Ride the Wave*~ |

I also don't like taking a lot of pills, which is why I noticed that option as I read about it. But I also read that the liquid form for whatever reason is less likely to cause a gastro reaction, as magnesium can be known for. So that was also an attractive feature. Here's one I bookmarked, I'm still looking into liquid form options: [ link to www.meminerals.com] Quoting: KickinIt Thank you!! Awesome!! I like those liquid form bottles with the little droppers. I take VitaLiver and it is just like that. I ordered this recently after reading some of the wonderful info Arnie posted about Lysine. [ link to www.amazon.com (secure)] Those little bottles are my new go-to for vitamins/supplements. Love that option! And I read all of the health info posted in here, whether it's a post to me or someone else. And have for years. Probably why I'm still kickin'. Pun intended! ~*Ride the Wave*~ |

Quoting: UH 76562346 Just looked at the map and I see what you mean. Definitely south - it's almost at the southern tip! And yes, looks like all ice there. Google satellite view gives a better picture of that. I suppose anything at the edge of a frozen tundra like that would be a weak point. Anything quake this far north is always worth noting, that's for sure. Quoting: KickinIt ~*Ride the Wave*~ |

From the article I linked earlier... Levin said it was a “distant relative” of what is happening at Yellowstone National Park. “Something relatively small — no more than a couple hundred miles across — is happening.”
Yellowstone is the site of a supervolcano that has been sleeping for about 640,000 years but could wreak devastation if it erupted.
The bubble of rock Levin studied is largely beneath central Vermont, Western New Hampshire, and Western Massachusetts, he said. [ link to www.bostonglobe.com (secure)] Being compared for some reason... ~*Ride the Wave*~ |
