I know I'm going to be on alert, even though by the time the energy would get to me it wouldn't (shouldn't) be too major. It seems in recent years KS/OK are taking the brunt of whatever comes this way, and then the NMSZ gets the really small leftovers. However, we are overdue, and there's also the Wabash Valley fault directly east of me in ILL, which caused our last big quake. Anything could happen, I suppose, so I shall remain on alert for the immediate future. |

And my boss has been there all this time and has seen how busy I stay. THen today, after she went to her home office location yesterday, I start getting emails asking about tasks and info the corp office wants..."Have you done this?" "What's the progress on this?" to the tune of about 5 or 6 emails like that. It was the last straw. I emailed my resignation, and never heard a word from her. Oh well... So, back to the employment agencies, and getting my resume out. And a huge relief knowing this madhouse I've been working will only be for a short time... The unemployment rate here is 2% - lowest in the country. EVERYBODY is trying to hire...hopefully will find something I can be reasonably happy doing... Would rather win the lottery, but.... Quoting: NewGeneration2019 Quoting: Luisport I'm not liking this at all Quoting: Simple27 Things to think about... localized flooding, power outages...inability to evac if flooding/weather turn bad your plans need to go 2 ways 1, what to plan if we stay home 2. what to plan if we evac if power goes out for a prolonged time like in Sandy, you have to plan for food prep, water, and sanitation (think no flushing capabilities) let me know if you're interested and I'll share some prep ideas with you. a few simple, easy purchases could help you get through a difficult time until power is restored now is the time to play the what if game and make some plans, if you wait til the news says its likely to hit, you will be in the middle of the masses in a panic to get ready. Being prepared isn't a dumb thing...NOT preparing then having to suffer while waiting to be rescued is the dumb thing. Far too many will do that, and suffer needlessly. This is a great time to find a place to evacuate away from the coast, find a place to shelter pets and secure boats, trailers and other goods.
You can make reservations further inland now... and still cancel them up to 24-hours in advance if you won't need them. At least you have your reservations made and know where you might evacuate if needed. If you wait until Saturday or Sunday, everyplace inland for hundreds of miles will already be booked.
