"The display over Senja, Norway, on Nov. 11th was nothing short of magical," recalls photographer Adrien Mauduit. "Huge colorful pillars took the shape of a fiery bird."

The same stream of solar wind will return on Dec. 8th or 9th and it may be even more potent this time because the underlying coronal hole has hrown larger in the intervening month. Arctic sky watchers, mark your calendars and warm your cameras. The Phoenix might rise again.

A HUGE thank you to John & MoN for holding down the day shift today! And Kickin for the night shift!

grouphug

Terribly stressful day. Between work and trying to deal with my sales guy from Toyota because it's time to swap my lease. Dealing with credit applications and personal shit during work is just a nightmare. I'm lucky to use the ladies room once per day, let alone deal with swapping a lease and all that it entails while in that office.

I'm supposed to return my current car on Saturday. Problem is, it's got some dents on the hood. Some rather big. I still have no idea how it happened. My best guess is that someone sat on the hood of my car, leaving a huge dent. Nef had tried to bang the dent out at the time (months ago), but it didn't help much and ultimately made the hood look like it has multiple small-medium/large dents instead of one huge dent.

I brought my current car by Toyota tonight on my way home from work and my sales guy said that Toyota would definitely charge me for the hood dents. And that they will inflate the cost ridiculously. He suggested I fix it before returning it on Saturday. What?! Ummm, I have work tomorrow first of all, and second of all, who could I possibly find to fix that tomorrow?!

This whole car thing is the straw that broke the camel's back. My stress level is completely off the hook. Between work, my health, Ryan's heart, Christmas, shortage of money, etc...I'm ready to throw the towel in.

Oh, and mini's mono test result came in today. Positive. She has mono.

So life is jolly for sure.

And that quickly, I can post this and mean it...

:s27xmas7:

And I know...wah, wah, wah. I hate even posting my gripes, but sometimes I seriously need to get them out of me, for me. Life is heavy right now. In every aspect. I'm just exhausted. I'm a fighter and all, but really?!

Boy can I relate! Got there a couple weeks ago when grandson used my truck and ended up going someplace he shouldn't - got all 4 tires sliced!!! And he got arrested when the cops came to investigate the tire-slashing, because he had an outstanding warrant. On top of everything else, it was just too much.

I literally was ready to take the great-grandbaby and run away. Instead, I let go. I looked at all that was going on and if it was something I had no control over, I gave it to God to handle. Easy to say, harder to do. But it worked.

I know that this time of year brings its own stress - too much to do and not nearly enough time. And tight finances don't help. Add in health issues, job stress, etc etc etc...
So, be kind to Simple! Mini will get well, Ryan's health is being monitored, and Christmas will come & go. Please take care of you & your health so you can be there for the ones you love & who love you! You are a precious soul, and important to so many people!

Take some quiet time, reach deep inside, and either pray or meditate. Separate from the daily stress, and let the Lord tend to all the worries while you refresh your being. Let the love of all your friends here wash through you, and let the total love of the Lord flood your soul. I love you, lady! You have a special place in my heart.

Looking to be another wash out here this weekend, but at least we are too far south for all of that snow and ice that is forecast...why does it always rain on the weekends?

As a question here is there a way to write a script to post the EQ information to this thread on GLP?

Think I've posted more tonight than I've done in a long time! Hope I haven't overloaded everyone!

Am about to head to bed - been up since 5 this morning.

Wanted to say thank you to all of you for putting up with me for the past few months as my life was seemingly going down the tube. Your support and willingness to "take me in" and make me feel at home here has meant so much! So during this time of the holiday season I want to wish you all a merry Christmas, and tell you that I thank God for you all!

Update on all my drama of the past year:

Grandson FINALLY started his job - $18/hr working Mon through Fri, 12 hour shifts. He gets to drive a forklift all day, and is learning about mixing chemicals for use in the oil field. He's not doing any drugs except occasional pot use, and has to quit that entirely in order to get custody of his daughter and not get fired from his new job.

His former fiancee is in court-ordered rehab to get off the hard drugs she started using again. Can't sign herself out.

The court has appointed the 2 grandmas and 2 great-grandmas joint guardianship over Sadie. Me & the other great-grandma are doing the child care because we don't have jobs. We each keep her about a week to 10 days, then the other takes over. This will be going on for at least 6 months.

Now, if we could win the lottery to take care of the financial issues, life would be looking pretty good!!! It's been a long hard struggle to get here.

And finally, I thank God for my hubby! Tomorrow is our 46th wedding anniversary. Sure had lots of ups and downs, but wouldn't trade any of it - we've come through a lot together! Shooting for the big 50, God willing!

Forgive the wall of text....
Love you all! Headed to bed! 'Night all!

I was wondering about Mini. I hate to hear she has mono. We can only hope it doesn't linger terribly long.

Car stuff is always stressful, even buying/leasing a new car, which should be exciting. It'll be nice when it's done, I'm sure, but the path there isn't fun. And the dent in the hood is a whole other issue. I'll probably find out how this worked out as I catch up here, but maybe just go to the dealer appointment and see how it would affect you before going to the hassle of finding someone to fix it. If they don't try to extort you, it might be worth leaving it alone.

Sorry you're dealing with so much stress. A friend came by for a few beers a little while ago, and we were both talking about all our current stressors and how everyone we know seems to be in the same mode, even if they have different stressors. It sucks, but know that you're not alone.

sneakhug
 Quoting: KickinIt

Absolutely. I definitely know that this is a stressful time of year for many people. For many different reasons.

I haven't posted an update on the car situation so here it goes lol...

My morning started with me calling my car insurance company to tell them about the swap. That went surprisingly well and my car insurance monthly payment will actually go down with this newer vehicle because it is a safer vehicle than the one I'm currently driving. So good news there. : )

Next task was to stop by this place called Dent Wizard. My sales guy from Toyota suggested that I contact them because they specialize in paintless dent repair and are relatively inexpensive (especially compared to Toyota's charges). My sales guy is cool and I've been working with him for years now. Tomorrow will be my 4th lease with them. And he's been my guy since the beginning. He knows my financial situation and has always gone above and beyond to help with my monthly car payment price. To get it as low as he feasibly could. A sale is a sale is a sale for these guys regardless lol. I'm not stupid and I know they are capable of giving much lower prices than what is shown at the dealerships. I've had it done for me time and time again since I started leasing. Anyway, the Dent Wizard place took one look at my hood and said they weren't capable of fixing it. The man suggested that I just get a new hood altogether. Good grief. At this point in the morning, I had to get to the office. So I drove there and caught up on work crap then jumped on Craigslist and searched 'auto dent repair' in my area. A bunch of posts showed up, many of which were same-day mobile service. They come to you and fix your vehicle within the same day. I contacted many of them and got quotes. I had sent them all pics of my hood for the quotes. Obviously I'm not trying to spend a fortune on the car that I am returning tomorrow, but wanted to have it fixed up at least enough that Toyota won't charge me for it. My best cost option was a guy who would meet me at my house and fix it as best he could without having to do any painting. He was straight up with me and told me (based on the pics I sent to him) that he wouldn't be able to fix it 100% without needing to repaint. He said that he could fix it 100% and repaint it today, but that would cost so much more. So I opted for the best he could fix it without painting, and he quoted me $250. What choice did I really have? None. So I left work and came home to meet him. He did a pretty good job. The damage is still noticeable, but the biggest of the dents are gone. Hoping this will pass. My sales guy told me a little while ago not to stress. So, I'm just crossing fingers & toes over here at this point.

hiding

Regarding mini, I'm hoping she's already ridden out the worst of the mono storm and that things will ease up sooner than later. She seems to be gaining energy again.

Regarding mini, I'm hoping she's already ridden out the worst of the mono storm and that things will ease up sooner than later. She seems to be gaining energy again.

It sounds like it's going to work out, and the whole situation will turn out about as good as it can. Kudos for dealing with all that today, AND going to work! Also great news about Mini. I probably already mentioned my nephew had mono many years ago, and he was down for the count for weeks. I hope she can feel close to 100% by Xmas!

I hope that Mini can get all healed soon.

I had a bad case of Mono in the 11th grade...wiped me out for the whole month of November and I lost something like 30 lbs. I couldn't eat anything because my throat was so sore, so they gave me some syrup to deaden the pain so I could eat, but the syrup made me ill. I threw up every time I took it. I spent the month lightly sipping water and broth.

'Night all!

This all sounds much more positive than the previous post of yours that I commented on. : )

Happy to hear the great news about his job! And overall status.

That joint guardianship situation...you know that I'm all too familiar with as I have shared with you in pm's. Your grandson is fortunate to have such a solid family foundation, with you as the leader. He needs that, and I'm sure having it has played into his positive recent outcomes. Prayers for all of you, including Sadie's mama. Always. Every baby girl needs her mama, so she will remain in my prayers.

Bless you and your entire family granny!
