Well, his only option (and this depends on the results of a CT scan) is open heart bypass surgery. :\

This isn't gonna end well. I feel it.
 Quoting: Simple27

Oh boy, that is definitely major surgery, but I see no reason why it wouldn't end well. He's young so that's in his favor, and this is a surgery done all the time. It's scary surgery, no doubt, but I firmly believe he'll get through it fine!

I gather it was a rough day. Sorry I wasn't able to reach out for support earlier. Had to go somewhere for work today that was a 90 min. drive, and had to leave at 6:30am! Then had no phone access all day. Anywho, you get my drift, I was there in spirit. Hugs to you both. Try to stay positive.

There have been 16 quakes in Switzerland between today and yesterday. Granted, all very small - 2.0 or smaller. But still, that's a lot of activity for Switzerland. I don't know that I've ever seen this many quakes there in such a short period.

I don't think I've seen activity like this anywhere that's going on to be honest. The swarms of smaller quakes in areas that I didn't think were seismically active are going on everywhere.

Yeah, it has been interesting lately. And it doesn't feel like it's over. Still feels like a large one is brewing. I worry about Cali because they really haven't had the activity I would expect considering everything going on around it in recent months. And they are so overdue to begin with. And now with this action in TN I'm a little more concerned about the New Madrid than I would like to be. But I'm more concerned about CA.

Data from Kilauea suggests the eruption was unprecedented

A very large team of researchers from multiple institutions in the U.S. has concluded that the Kilauea volcanic eruption that occurred over this past summer represented an unprecedented volcanic event. In their paper published in the journal Science, the researchers describe the sequence of events that transpired and what set them apart from other volcanic eruptions.

The researchers discovered that the caldera did not collapse in a way that was expected. First, it deflated by approximately 500 meters. Second, it happened incrementally—62 times in all. They were also surprised to find that groundwater did not play much of a role in the explosions that resulted as the caldera collapsed—instead, they were caused by piston-type pressure resulting from each deflation.

Bear attacks woman in her front yard, drags her 88 yards, officials say

The bear grabbed the woman as soon as she walked out of her home in Muncy Creek Township -- about 70 miles west of Scranton -- and dragged her for 88 yards, Pennsylvania Game Warden Supervisor Mike Steingraber told ABC News.

The woman was able to free herself and call for help, Steingraber said, adding that her dog was also injured.

The victim required surgery, ABC Scranton affiliate WNEP reported.

I'm definitely trying. I'm just very discouraged because he just isn't taking this as seriously as it is.

Driving home from the appointment today he asked me...'so are you gonna trade me in for a better model', and I said 'if you don't stop smoking, yes'.

Like I'd even have a choice. If he keeps smoking those damn life-ending sticks, he is going to die. Period. His regular cardiologist already told him that. I am in no position, in any way, to handle such a disaster.

And I have zero tolerance for people who don't want to help themselves. So I'm in a tricky position because obviously I love him and all, but I'm less than impressed with how he's been living since finding all of this out.

This sucks. Completely.

That is discouraging. But he has smoked a lot per day for a long time so he might just need time to wrap his head around it and try to quit. You can't make him, so don't waste your energy there other than gentle encouragement. Don't think beyond that at this point, it will just stress you out. Try to take things day by day. Hoping for the best, of course. It's scary stuff to deal with at your young ages.
